I have a question and I am hoping, no, I'm sure someone here can help. Where do you order those special cakes from for birthdays? We will be down there on the 22nd of May to celebrate my entire families birthdays, which are May 15, 16, 25 & 26, and we are wanting to suprise our girls. Is it to close to the time of us going to order a specialty cake for one of our dinners?

Thank you so much for any advice you can give.

Good morning everyone!

This weekend will be a very busy one for the jabead family. We have a nephew getting married tomorrow and then on Sunday our DD#2 is leaving for Italy, where she will be taking classes for most of the summer in Florence. With this in mind, I will be donning my "happy aunt" and "nervous mother" hats this weekend, and putting my "Keeper of the Live Thread" hat aside. Consequently there will be few if any updates posted beginning this evening until Sunday evening. I have warned all the live reporters who are currently at Disney World that there will be a delay in posting their weekend updates, but I will get them all posted eventually. I have also told the many reporters who are arriving this weekend. And speaking of which,

Just a reminder that next up to the Disney Dining Plate are...

MrsBearcat

- and -

skylizard

- and -

Chavaleh

- and -

CalSea12

- and -

zomama

MrsBearcat will be at Disney World from 5/11 - 5/16 and has volunteered to do live updates for us!

skylizard will be at Disney World from 5/11 - 5/17 and has also volunteered to do live updates for us!

Chavaleh will be at Disney World from 5/11 - 5/19 and has offered to do live updates for us!

CalSea12 will be at Disney World from 5/11 - 5/21 and has also volunteered to do live updates for us!

zomama will be at Disney World from 5/12 - 5/18 and has offered to do live updates for us!

HAVE A GREAT TRIP, MrsBearcat, skylizard, Chavaleh, CalSea12 & zomama !!!

My brother (21) is over in Italy studying abroad currently. He is having the time of his life and never wants to come home! I'm sure DD#2 will have a fabulous time!

Look at this thread the OFFICIAL Disney Cake Chatter Thread on the main Disney Restaurant part of the forum.
I would say will only 12 days to go,that yes, you need to order the cake.
The very first two posts in that thread answer a lot of questions.

I have a little time so I'll go ahead and post some updates, starting with our First Update of the Day sent to us by 1coolnini from...

Disneyland's California Adventure

She said, "Good morning Barb. Testing 1,2,3...testing 1,2,3. This is 1cooltini checking in from California. We went to California Adventure last night for a quick visit. Getting in the Disney mood for our visit to WDW next week."

"We ended up at Flo's Diner in Carsland. We wanted to ride RSR [Radiator Springs Racers] since the lines were short last night."

"We have eaten here before, but only once. Very limited menu, but large portions and tasty."

"You choose the meat you want (turkey, beef, sliced pork) and then 2 sides. Price is under $12."

"We sat outside to watch the racers and the parade."

Note from jabead: Love that picture! Nice job!

"Here's 1coolpapa with his roast beef, coleslaw and peas with carrots."

Next we received a couple of updates from StuffedwFluff. The first one is from her dinner last night at...

Yachtsman Steakhouse

First the delicious Yachtsman rolls...

Then for their appetizer...

Assortment of Artisanal Cheeses with assorted bread and seasonal accoutrements

"The cheese plate was amazing. I loved all of the pairings that came with each piece of cheese."

"We then had the filets and truffles Mac and Cheese."

8-oz Center Cut Filet Mignon with Mashed Potatoes, and Cabernet Wine Sauce

"The filet was heavenly, especially when paired with the onion they place on the plate."

Truffle Mac & Cheese - Orecchiette Pasta and Reypenaer Cheese

"The truffled mac and cheese was good and I was trying to place the familiar flavor. It tasted like au gratin potatoes or scalloped potatoes but with noodles instead."

"For our anniversary they brought us a tasting plate of surprise bites."

"We were told to guess each one. It was really fun, there was a peanut butter and jelly, a marshmallow, a truffle, candied jelly and some almonds covered in peanut butter. Such a fun way to end the meal. We love this place and come everytime we're here."

Wow Barb your schedule this weekend sounds crazy. As a mom with 2 kids thousands of miles away I can relate to the "nervous mother" hat. Be sure and take some time to enjoy yourself and have a special Mother's day.

Thanks for posting my pictures from last nights quick dinner at California adventure. Disney has done a fabulous job with Carsland. The first Cars movie has been wonderfully recreated. When California Adventure first opened (I think about 10 years ago) it really was only a 3 hour park. The improvements they have made are excellent and Coolpapa and I find ourselves heading to California Adventure as often as Disneyland these days.
Hopefully y'all will be able to take a trip west one of these days and check it out for yourself.

Just a quick note...my screen name is actually Coolnini. I know.....strange name. I liked your Cool"tini"(thinking mar"tini" here ) much better! Nini (pronounced the same as "tini" with an "n") is what my grandkids call me. Coolpapa and I have 10 grandkids. Our trip to WDW next week is adults only(just the 2 of us). I would love to be able to share WDW with the gkids one of these days.

Love this thread. It has really been so much help trying to decide on ADR's. I have made and cancelled so many reservations it is getting embarrassing. I need to just step away from the computer. I have seen several great reviews of Yachtsmans steakhouse with wonderful pictures. SOOOOOO yesterday I was able to move my Via Napoli to a lunch and got an evening reservation for Yachtsman's. I think we will be 10 pounds heavier when we get home!

Have a great weekend.

Jan

Thanks Barb for all that you do for us and God Bless you and your family. BTW I may sneak off to WDW solo on Thursday May 16th for 4 to 5 nights so I may be joining the list of live reporters!! The last weekend of the F&G is calling my name and it's so hard to resist the military salute discount right now!
