3 day cruise

This is our first 3 day. Are there any special days, ie semi formal, formal, pirate night etc. just wondering what to pack. Thanks.

from the DCL web site

On 3-night cruises:
•One cruise casual night—no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
•One pirate or tropical night (deck party)
•One "dress-up night"—jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women

We were on a 3 night 2 years ago.....first night - Cruise Casual, second night - Pirate Night and third was semi- formal. That what I remember. Since, some folks do not get their luggage in time to change for 1st seating, the first night people were pretty casual at dinner. Pirate Night.....some people really do up it with Pirate costumes...and some dinner dress and some very casual. On the 3rd night, I wore a long summer dress and DH and sons wore khakis and collared shirts. I found 3 night much more casual than our 7 night.

But remember if you are going to Palo or Remy......dress up......suit and tie...and very dressy for the ladies....

We just got home from our 3 day Cruise on Sunday (I am soooo sad!).

Anyhoo, yes the second night was Pirate Night. Our Navigator said attire that evening is either casual or pirate.

Our 2 family group was well prepared as we each had a pirate costume. I have to warn you though... most people on our cruise did NOT dress in costumes. Many people wore the free bandana. But only maybe 1 % of people were dressed in costumes. We did feel out of place, but had a great time regardless.

I wouldn't skimp on the pirate! We are EVERY WHERE. It made for a really fun dinner. (I say fun..hmm dinner in a boned corset... but hey it looked good!) and we weren't out of place. We have some great dinner pics of my dad and DH 'fighting' with butter knives! Really cute.

Enjoy your 3 day. I know we did!

That's really unusual. About 50% of the passengers on our 5 DCL cruises were dressed up.

Never feel out of place! Rock it!

Like we overheard two girls say: "We didn't bring a pirate outfit. We suck."

I was shocked too!

Maybe since it was a 3day cruise, many people didnt think they would do it. Or maybe we just had a high population of non Dis-boarders!

Regardless... we had an absolute blast dressing up. The crew applauded us loudly for our efforts as we walked into the main dining room. I wouldnt change a thing. We arent planning any more 3 day cruises (it was just too darn short)... but if we did, we would still dress up!

Ironically my husband and my girl friends husband both came with the same pirate costume! They looked like pirate twins!!

We had a couple of people ask if they worked on the ship and 1 teenage boy (with down syndrome), thought our guys were so cool being dressed as pirates... asked to have his picture taken with them!

We all enjoyed it tremendously!
