Cabana hosts? What do they do?

Hi all, so a bunch of different sites have me confused. Some say the host comes with cabana and will take you via golf cart & show you around...replenish beverages and snacks if needed...others say he/she will also bring you food if requested...others say, not included with cabana, but costs an extra fee (over the $499).

I thought I'd come to the experts! What can/will a cabana host do, both as part of the cabana rental & for additional fee.

Hubby feels if we rent one, we might as well be able to get food and alcohol (even for a fee) brought to us too.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Best,
Rachel

They will not take you to get food, they do bring you from the check in point (after you get off the tram) via golf cart to the cabana area. They will get you more towels, beverages, fruit etc. DD wanted Fanta and grapes and both were provided. CMs do come around to sell you booze.

They clean up your plates too.

The Cabanas are very close to cookies too so it is just a short walk to bring food back. The host will come when you push the call button and take care of any needs you have such as replenishing supplies, as for alcohol they can take you order or call you a bartender. If you have travelled concierge the hosts are generally the concierge team from the ship. Sometimes housekeeping people not necessarily the hosts will come to clean up or ask if you want anything. Honestly if you request something from them they are going to try and make your stay magical if possible.

I think hubby mostly wants the drinks. He loved that at our last all-inclusive. My 1st Disney cruise & I am blessed enough to be concierge. I have a feeling I will be spoiled forever. Of course, after our Celebrity cruise with one of the cheaper rooms, I missed our steward who brought me chamomile tea every night...I asked hubby to do it when we got home & he just rolled his eyes at me...

It's not necessary to pay for a cabana to have drinks brought to you. There are servers that walk the beach all day taking drink orders and bringing them. I know the cabanas are very popular but for the life of me I don't understand why.

We had a SB cabana last August that was at the end of the beach. Our host did tell us to call when we wanted lunch and drove us over and brought us back.

What do the cabana hosts do?? Hmm, what they are supposed to do - first when you check-in, they drive you to the cabana and show you around. Show you how to call them. Then you can call them for anything you might need - bar service, extra towels, water, if you need a golf cart ride back from your cabana, if you want them to clear the lunch plates, etc.

I have to say I was less than impressed with the service we got in our cabana. We were not demanding. We called once (well, we had one time that we wanted some service but had to call several times as it took over 40 minutes for anyone to respond. We were starting to think our "magical button" wasn't working. It certainly wasn't magical.) When the cabana CM arrived, we said we wanted some drinks from the bar. Her response was that she would send someone. We had to wait another 15 minutes for a bar server to arrive and take our drink order. In total it was close to an hour and 20 minutes before we got our drinks, certainly would have been easier and faster to go to the bar ourselves or go to the regular beach and flag down a bar server. That was the only time we requested anything in our cabana. Don't know why it was so poor. But we didn't call for a cart to take us back even though we were with my elderly parents (which is why we thought the cabana was worth every penny) who both have mobility issues.

We were not concierge guests and maybe that was part of the problem. The CM who did finally come to our cabana was from GS, not Concierge. Maybe we had an off day service-wise or maybe you get more personal service if you are concierge and the concierge staff is already working with you. We'd do a cabana again in the future so we certainly thought it was worth it but for reasons other than the "great" service.

Anyone else in a cabana think it was strange that it was just a call button and not a phone or something to actually tell the cabana host what you might need from them so they can come prepared??

Yes most people tip and yes cash is accepted. I wouldn't leave it in the cabana but just give it to the host personally.
