10 cruises & couldn't tell you who our cruise directors were. We remember our MDR servers & stateroom hosts. :
Maybe as a PP noted if we took some of the longer cruises e.g. 14 day, that might make a difference.

Newbie question: what exactly does the CD do? How do they affect your cruise experience?

I've eaten at 148 out of 247 restaurants at Walt Disney World (60%)
I've eaten at 56 out of 87 quick service/counter service restaurants at Walt Disney World (64%)
I've eaten at 39 out of 73 table-service restaurants at Walt Disney World (53%)
I've eaten at 6 out of 18 signature restaurants at Walt Disney World (33%)
I've eaten at 2 out of 3 dinner show restaurants at Walt Disney World (67%)

Or a cruise with weather changes. I think a good CD will organize activities and stay on top of room changes.

On our second cruise, there was an asst in the adult activities group that we really enjoined. She did the tour of the ship, always seemed to be in our doorway for the shows, happened to be the CM we followed of the ship for our excursion. It was always nice to see Emma.

We had Brent on the Wonder back in 2006 and again on the Magic in 2008. I know it is unlikely we'll have him on the Dream next month, but it is fun getting to know the CDs in the short amount of time you have onboard.
