Toddlers and wdw!!

Hey guys! 1st of all I can not believe I never knew about this site! I LOVE Disney!

I've been to wdw a lot of times but since we live in fl this is the first time staying on property and my first time with a toddler does anyone have any advice for us? We're staying at all-star music btw..

1. Naps - stick to them, live by them, don't try to get around them. You will regret it.

2. Sippy cups/snacks - have them on hand. Take advantage of the free water offered at just about every food service stand/restaurant.

3. Be flexible. I'd recommend using a touring plan to help make sure that you avoid some longer lines. Use fastpass (and child swap) as much as possible as well. But always be ready to 'abandon ship' or change your plans if necessary. Some people get so caught up in the moment and insist on doing this or that and it just makes for a bad situation where everyone is screaming and not having a good time. Just relax and enjoy your vacation and if you need to drop into Hall of Presidents or Carousel of Progress to cool off and take a semi-nap, do it.

4. Stroller, of course.

You have finally explained to my satisfaction why Disney has not gotten rid of the Hall of Presidents and Carousel of Progress. Napping stations! Why didn't I realize!

The biggest thing I learned was to be flexible. A cranky toddler makes a cranky family. Take your cues from them and always have a sippy cup and snacks handy. I also pack a couple small toys to keep them busy if they're getting bored.

LOL I can not tell you how many times I have done just that, gone into Hall of Presidents and Ellen's Universe of Energy just so that I had a "ride" for my kids and a dark place for me to take a nap....

Things that have worked for me while my kids were/are little is that you want a
-really good/comfy stroller. Something that is comfy for them to sit/nap in and also something that is comfy for you to push all day!
-Snacks, you can never have enough of their favorite snacks.
-depending on the time of year a spritz bottle and/or fan to keep them cool
-extra pacifiers/binky for all the times you'll loose one. Disney does sell some toddler items but the one binky they sell was not one my little ones would use, they were very fussy.
-take cues from your little one as others have said. some kids can only handle so much and others (like mine) once they are in the parks they do not want to leave. Even as early as 7 months old we'd be in the parks from morning till midnight (they had no problem napping in the stroller or hip carrier when they were tired though).
-make use of the kid care centers in the parks for changes, ice cold water, a/c, a break from the park without going back to the room, baby items and they have a mircowave you can use to heat up food and such for your little ones! I usually bring a micro mac/cheese or micro chef boyardee meal with me to the parks for my kids so that I had something for them if they were hungry off of meal times. I often found my little ones weren't hungry when I was or they'd say they were hungry take a couple bites and that was it. Then an hour later they are starving (btw a mini cooler that you can attach to your stroller and small sandwich bags are a great way to pack up their uneaten lunch/dinner for them to eat when they get hungry again!)

Try to stick to regular routine for child as far as meals, naps and bedtime is concerned and be felxible.

DS wasn't much of a napper but I did know that if he was off his eating schedule he would get cranky so I made meal ADRS around the times he usually ate. He had a comfortable stroller and there were a few times he fell asleep.

I mde sure to have plenty of his favorite snacks and food with me as he was (and still is) a pciky eater. But if ound most impportant was that I paid attention to his reactions and moods and was more than willing to be flexible with our plans to work with them. Disney is such a wonderful place for little ones it can be hard to predict exactly how they will react so I found just going with the flow and not putting plans over moods worked the best.

Have a great time!
