I am very excited about the new water slide! We have the WBTA booked in 2014, and although I love the Magic just the way she is, after our last cruise - on the Fantasy - I was a little afraid my boys might be disappointed in going back to the Magic. But that slide looks pretty awesome, and they loved the splash zone on the Fantasy, so hopefully this will be similar. Parrot's Cay never appealed to me- seemed very dated and cheesy, so any improvement is good. I wonder if the are going to enclose that hallway between the 2 clubs and make it more like the clubs on the new ships - where you don't have to go down "the secret hallway".

Honestly, if they are going to do all of that, I think the value of the tickets we bought for the WBTA just went up a little!!

Glad I booked the Magic for the end of the year. Still had opening day rates, which I'm sure once this is out, they'll only go up...

Carnival is completly redoing the Destiny into the Sunshine. You can watch all of the weekly updates since they started. In the end it is going to run about 180 million. 8 weeks. It is being done by the people who built the D Magic. They work 24/7 they parked a cruise ship next to it to feed and house workers. Just go Carnival web site.

As much as we love the classic vessel look, I don't think this water slide is going to be that noticeable. Its runs down the stack , painted red and over the side and back. It will likely blend in rather well!.

As to the reasons the Classic vessel cannot have a Aquaduck is lack of space. The supports could be put in rather easily.

I am with you. They screw up these ships and I am off to another line for good.

The Dream was more like the 'nightmare" IMHO

I am hoping they leave Animator's Palate as it is. While I like the version on the Dream, I want to see the original version.

We like the Aquaduck on the Dream. The feeling of it being on the Magic is odd, but I will like to try it.

I am another one who is in favor of the new slide. I think they need something for the tween/teens who are way too old for the Mickey slide.
It looks similar to the ones that are on the new NCL Breakaway where it drops straight down at first.

Parrot Cay was my favorite restaurant on the classic ships -- until they went to the Med in 2007 and decided to take down all the decor and design around the windows that made it tropical and unique and then it became so blah! We were told they were going to put everything back, but the last time we were onboard in 2009 it still looked the same! So if they replace it, I won't be missing anything as they already killed the original theme anyway

I think the concern comes in the fact that it goes over the edge of the ship at all -- more likely to ruin the classic look by having a modern-day metal object sticking out

Here's a link with some great artist renderings: http://disneycruiselineblog.com/2013...ul-wonder-art/

I'm sorry to see they are going to cooker-cutter Topsiders and Beach Blanket and make it like Cabanas. We hated the Cabana layout and prefer the straight-line cafeteria style on the classic ships.

Brazilian? Yuck.

Oh well, at least I know one choice I won't have to make if I get to cruise on the Magic sometime.

I have to agree with that. Of course our first four cruises on the Magic were when Christmas decorations were up. I didn't find out that the multicolored garland hanging throughout PC wasn't part of the regular design until our fifth cruise.
