Door magnet help

I started printing my door magnets and the ink rubs right off of them. Even after it has had plenty of time to dry. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there anything I can spray them with to set the ink? HELP!

I use magnet paper as well and not even the same brand and the ink does not rub off...hmmm....maybe it's your printer?

I print on photo paper. I do need to let the ones with a lot of color dry (usually about an hour, just to make sure), but after that, no problem.

my sister had this same issue. I asked her about her printer...she has a laserjet and I have a regular inkjet...so i wonder if that is what caused her's to take so long to dry compared to mine. what kind of printer are you using?

Try blow drying them? I've never had the problem I use high gloss magnetic paper.

That would be my suggestion too...just use the cold setting of your hair dryer.

I had the same issue with some BEAUTIFUL designs that Barb from this board created for me! The ink made the biggest mess. I let them dry for ONE WEEK before I cut the magnet sheets and the ink was still messy.
We still used them...they worked fine. I'd recommend you use the thin sheets that came in the package between the magnet sheets when you're packing them up to take them with you on the trip. I used those sheets to separate them and put them all back in the cardboard package thingee - worked like a charm!!

I found glossy paper is messy always. Use matte photo paper.

The print settings are vital! If I have my printer set as usual, the ink rubs off no matter how long it sets. If I set the printer settings (set them in the computer) to printing on glossy photo paper, then the ink dries in a couple minutes.

I use the Staples brand glossy magnetic sheets and have had no problems. It was a little wet immediately after printing but a few minutes later they were completely dry.

Hi!! It sounds like you used a laser printer?

If you are sure you did not, what brand of paper did you use? I sort of do this kind of thing for a living so I am happy to help!

Make sure that you are using inkjet paper and not laser paper. If that is correct, check you ink settings. There are settings for photo paper that will la down less ink in select areas as the gloss paper does not absorb like other paper. You will find this setting in the print screen usually under paper selection. If you do not see it in any of the options, you may need to upgrade your print driver.

Thanks for the hints. I am using an inkjet with magnetic paper (made for printing). I have used the same exact set up in previous years with no problems. I will try the ink settings. The only difference this year is the ink is a "refilled" ink cartridge from Costco rather than the original ink cartridges.
