Yup me too. We actually got a phone call... two to be exact. The first one let us know that our sailing out of Galveston today was going to depart 6 hours late because of weather

This was actually a dummy cruise for us, but with the thought we may actually fit it in since we go to WDW at the same time of year.

But that really does suck!

when I first read this my heart skipped a beat. We too are on the beloved Sept 29th charter and went through what Alan and Kris did.

As luck would have it, we are also booked on a Magic Dec. 4th sail! For a minute there I thought another one of my cruises was chartered.

I remember the year they did this for a Med cruise. Some ppl had bought flights already, and bookended hotels. DCL took care of change fees, but still what a hassle.

Really? When we got off at 9:45 there was no weather situation. Our cruise, which left on the 12th was 2+ hours late because they said they were waiting for 1 passenger. I was not a happy camper.

Omg I had no idea this could happen. Now I'm worried it could happen to us on our nov cruise and our flights and hotels are all booked plus we've paid for so many things already for the 6 days we're spending in Orlando.

Wow. What if you've got flight booked already? I'm about to book our flights for January 2014.

In most cases, DCL will work with those who have airfares purchased already. But there may not be many this far out who have already purchased.

That's good. I'd be pretty bummed to have our cruise chartered. Is there a general time frame that they notify folks?

What's a Grand Slam?

Always Another Cruise Co.

At that point i would say good buy to DCL. This is a case of getting your act together. Planning is not a city in China. DVC has been around a long time. Other groups like Turner Classic Movies, do not think they use Disney, know way more than a year in advance on what they are going to do.

RCL looking better every day. Have you seen the Royal Princess, and do not rule out the biggest one of them all, Carnival. The Sunshine is going to be a different approach.

But I can't control DCL just who gets my $.

Oh gosh it's not just DCL. Here is a cruisecritic article about chartering, that quotes people from Carnival and RCCL about how they decide to accept a charter for a cruise that's already booked by non-charter people.

Disappointed but changed to the Dream

I saw this thread before checking my email today. I have been booked on the Magic 12/8/13 cruise since September. I jumped on an decently priced airfare to Miami a few months ago. Luckily, it was only one-way. I figured I could worry about getting home later. So today, I called and booked the Dream on the same date. The pricing was about the same, but I lose a day on the cruise, and change to Nassau from Cozumel for a port of call. Oh well. I was able to change the flight to Orlando for a reasonable amount. With the compensation offered (OBC), we should be okay. It looks like the day after our cruise ends, a trip to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom is now going to happen (if there is a party on Friday, 12/13/13....yes, Friday the 13th . A little bit of stress, but it looks like the new plans will work for us.
