Suddenly Feeling old :(

Wow time just flies.

An old flame contacted me via social media. It's been 28 years since I was last involved with them but some of the memories seem like they just happened yesterday. Made me feel suddenly old especially since I probably have about that much time left to live. It will be over in the blink of an eye.

Youth really is wasted on the young.

I remember this quote from an article regarding a Yamaha FZR1000. The 39 year old owner said, "We work hard all our lives and save all our money so that as we get older, we can afford all the things only young people can enjoy".

At the time I read that, 39 seemed such a long way off. Now, it's but a tiny speck in the rearview mirror.

I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes it just hits me that there isn't that much time left.

Yup, I'm right there with you, lucas. It's funny… 25 years sounds like a long time until you realize that it isn't. Women in my family live long lives, so maybe I have 30 or so left. That's nothing; DD isn't even 21 yet. I guess part of the problem is that I only feel about 36, but I'm more than 20 years older than that. Where did it go, and how did I get here?

I truly do try to appreciate each and every day and read this quote often.....it is one of my favorites.

"DO NOT REGRET GROWING OLD. IT IS A PRIVILIGE DENIED TO MANY."

Very true I think. Embrace every moment!!

My Dad used to say "it BEATS the alternative!"

I also got friended by an old beau who told me he'd been looking for me for THIRTY years~~

I thought "when did HE get old because I'm not"...

The 50th anniversary of the Kennedy assassination is when it hit me that I actually remember something that happened 50 years ago.

My cousin just posted that its the anniversary of the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. She told how she sat in front of the black and white tube tv to watch. She said that made her feel old.

I so hear you!

DS is 17... almost 18.... but he CAN'T POSSIBLY because I was 17, almost 18 just a few moments ago!

It so weird how time sometimes seems to drag and yet it goes by in a blink. I was thinking this morning about my first real boyfriend. We did cross paths about 10 years ago and we actually dated again but it was not a good time in his life. Wondering how he's doing. What he's been up to. How life would have been different if we weren't so young and foolish the first time around.

We are in good company.

I have been helping my 94 year-old grandmother run errands on Fridays. I think about her age and then my own and realize that if I live as long as her, I'm almost half way there and if I don't then I'm OVER half way there!!

I remember a conversation between her and my mom and myself just a few years ago. We each said we did not feel our age. My grandmother is just now trying to accept that she is old as her body is wearing out but her mind is still young. It's been hard for her to accept and hard for us to see her struggle with aging.

I hear you.
This thread made me think of my next most serious boyfriend that I had (besides DH), I realize that it's 27 years ago that we broke up.

27 years from now, I'll be 79, God willing that I live that long.

This is not about living life to the fullest or being wary of growing old. This is just about how time passes so quickly.

Remember when you were young and you rolled your eyes when you heard the old folks talk about the old days

Well we have suddenly become them.
