with a little work....not a bad "last minute" plan

We booked a relatively last minute trip (1 month ago) to BCV, and are leaving on Sunday. We are members there who are out of points for the year but wanted to take advantage of the 30% discount. Because of other circumstances, I didn't really book any dining until about 2 weeks ago.
We have 3 girls, ages 11 months, 4 & 7. We really prefer the Epcot area, and we like to eat early (5:30 is ideal).
I worked the reservation system pretty diligently, checking repeatedly for each day and maneuvering around. I guess my point is, you can still have a respectable plan even if you don't jump in months in advance!

4/21: Arrival (noon), Rose & Crown 5:45. (never eaten dinner here).

4/22: Via Napoli 6:15. (could not find anything except around 4 or after 7:30 at all, but then suddenly this one popped up. Pretty siked about this, we've never tried it but have heard good things).

4/23: Yak & Yeti 12:00 pm, Biergarten 5:50 p.m. (I loved our one stop at Y&Y for lunch. Good food, nice and shaded, and the drinks make the afternoon a bit more enjoyable! We've never done Biergarten.)

4/24: Cape May Cafe 8:45 am. Beaches & Cream...whenever! (Kids like CMC, it's convenient, and we've done it once every trip since 2009. No dinner reservations this day, we'll probably go to MK b/c of the projected crowd levels, but would be back in time to hit Beaches & Cream, another favorite that we always like to leave one night open for).

4/25: Hollywood Brown Derby 5:30. (never been, I love Cobb salad, enough said.)

4/26: Kouzzina 8:50, San Angel 5:30. (wife wants to try Kouzzina for breakfast. San Angel is one of our personal favorites because the kids love it, we enjoy the food and atmosphere, and we always enjoy getting there 30 minutes early, getting an amazing margarita at Cava and walking around in the COOL air.)

4/27: Cape May Cafe 5:45. (last night semi-tradition, something for everybody, foods good--not great--but I've found with enough clarified butter you can enjoy anything, and it's convenient for us with the 3 kids who will be pretty tired after a fun week.)

Not too bad for planning just a few weeks out....if I may say so myself! We would love to try Le Cellier, but it's not going to happen and that's ok. We also like Teppan Edo, but truth be told there are 3 hibachi restaurants around us in NJ that are much better so we don't really need to try that one this trip. Thought about a return to Sanaa, or maybe try Boma for the buffet, but it's a pain getting around with the 3 kids and sometimes it's easier to just stay "local".
Also considered Flying Fish, or a night at Downtown Disney (haven't been in 4 years!).
Anything you would change, suggestions? If I continue searching and something falls in my lap, which would you cancel from the above list?

Thanks!

Have heard great things about Rose and Crown as well as Via Napoli! We love San Angel as well! No experience with Biergarten but if something great comes along, I would drop that one. You won't know any better anyway!

It looks great! I would try to squeeze in Boma, even if for breakfast!

Via Napoli is great. My fiancee and I have eaten there the past 2 years the night before the marathon and it has been great. More of a family style Italian restaurant which sounds like it would be great for you and your girls.

I agree ... I think your plan looks great. R&C is one of our favorites. We love Via Napoli as well. HBD has been good in the past and Biergarten can be a lot of fun!

We are not in the Boma loving group here on the Dis but we did really enjoy Sanaa. Maybe a lunch break one day? Watching the animals adds a lot to the meal.

Yum! Looks like a great plan!! We also were sort of last minute this trip (about 3 months, funny when that seems last minute) and were lucky enough to get reservations for a bunch of great restaurants, including Akershus, San Angel Inn, Crystal Palace, T-Rex, Chef Mickey's, 1900PF, Ohana (!!!), and Coral Reef! Very happy even though there was no way to get BoG or CRT - we did Cindys last trip and we can do BoG for lunch.

have fun!!

We already have the 2 breakfasts planned and ordered food for the rest of our breakfasts in the villa, but I'm tempted to cancel Y&Y and Biergarten the day we go to AK and just doing an early Boma dinner. I've heard so many good things about Boma, and obviously buffets make life easier with kids.

sounds perfect. We like trying new places, and this is one my wife and I really are looking forward to.

We ate at Sanaa the one time we stayed at AKV. We really enjoyed it, but realistically we won't make a special lunch trip. However, I would gladly go again for dinner. As I said above, I might be changing around the gameplan for the day we go to AK. What about Boma did you not like?

Wish we could have gotten Ohana. My wife loves it there, and I've been trying every day to find something to surprise her, but no luck. We've never been to Coral Reef, how is it? I saw a time pop up the other day but honestly know nothing about it so I didn't grab it.
I thought BOG was reservations only for lunch? If not, we might have to take the girls there one day. I don't anticipate next week being too busy, but of course there's no way to know until we get there!

another anecdote to this story is that next Monday, the 22nd, is my 180+10 for a big trip we are taking in October with 17 people. I'm in charge of making dinner plans (almost nobody coming with us has been to WDW, or at least not in 15-20+ years!).

So while I'm there next week I am going to be working the phones to get Ohana, BOG and Le Cellier for all or part of the group.

I wish they had a ADR Center at WDW so I could talk to somebody in person instead of dealing with their atrocious website, or sitting on hold on the phone for 20 minutes!

I'm not sure if you mean you would love to go there for lunch or dinner, or if having a larger party makes reservations difficult, but I'm going this Saturday for just a day trip, and there were several LC lunch reservations for 4 guests when I checked yesterday. You could get lucky for what it's worth, I think your current plan sounds good, and I hope y'all have a great trip!

Garden Grill in Swan gets good reviews for kids. (Never been myself). We love Il Mulino at the Swan and FRESH Mediterranean is delicious for breakfast or lunch at the Dolphin, but service is slow. In Epcot, Tutto Gusto was amazing, and they don't take reservations. Just walk ins.

Have fun!,

Thanks, we almost never make lunch reservations because usually somebody needs a nap. Also, we have to make a reservation for 5 which seems to be much harder than 4. I've seen a few for 4 at dinner (nothing great time-wise), but nothing for 5.

I was thinking that if we are in Epcot around lunchtime and the mood strikes maybe we'd try a walk up.

Enjoy your day trip!

Funny--my wife has to travel to Orlando quite a bit and they usually put her at the Swan & Dolphin, so she never wants to go over there when we're on vacation because it reminds her of work. But on the other hand, she often recounts how amazing her work dinners are ("You'd love BlueZoo!"), but I'm not allowed to plan a family dinner there! Is that fair?

We have eaten at Boma twice for breakfast and once for dinner. We did enjoy breakfast better than dinner but not enough to make a special trip. I really can't give a specific reason that we didn't enjoy dinner. We are pretty adventurous eaters so it wasn't the "different" foods. It was loud & crowded and we had a really awful server for our dinner. I don't know, maybe we'll give it another try some day.

Isn't there a group number to call when there is a large party like that? I thought I had read that somewhere but I could be mistaken. I think BoG for dinner will be your toughest task. That is one hard ADR to get. If you can't get dinner, give lunch a try. We really enjoyed our lunch.

Ohana is great...Coral Reef, is ok, best thing about it is watching the aquarium, food is ok, not great, not bad.
BOG is only reservations for dinner. Lunch it is considered a counter service meal, you order from a kiosk and then your food is brought to your table, so no reservations for lunch.
