Canada Place Check-In

What is the check-in process like at Canada Place? Namely, would it be possible (or even advisable) to drop off our luggage with porters in the morning and then explore Canada Place for a bit before our boarding time? I envision hopefully being able to lug around only our day bags or carry-ons and see a bit in the area (namely the new Fly Over Canada attraction opening later this month)...but recognize that may not be possible. Any details on how the morning will go would be welcome

If DCL is the same as other cruise lines we've sailed out of Vancouver, you should be able to check in your luggage, wander around a bit, and get on the ship later. You have to have your luggage tags to do this, and if you don't, you may have to wait until the check in kiosks open to get extras. Be sure to get atop Canada Place and take in the view (the mountains and the ship(s)) for a little bit too. Most people don't realise that this terrace is up there and it is rarely crowded.

If you won't be in Vancouver before that time, walk down the road a little bit to see the Olympic cauldron. You won't see it lit up, but it is still beautiful.

We got off the Wonder on Monday June 3rd. Yes, you can drop your luggage off and go sightseeing but give yourself an hour to get thru security when you come back. We got to the port at 12 noon and there was a very long line. It moved slowly but once we got thru security we went to the Platinum line and there was only one family in front of us. We went to meet our friends that were already onboard then went to Parrot Cay for lunch. There is only one security line for everyone and it was massive at 12 noon.

Thanks for the tip Our boarding time is 11:30 and Fly Over Canada will be opening around 10 AM, so this all ought to work out pretty well. We've been known to put luggage tags on our carry-ons and leave those with the porters, too, and just carry around a large-ish tote bag for embarkation day.

Thanks for the info, all!

We got off the Wonder today, and Canada Place is by far the most unorganized Cruise Terminal I have seen. That being said, yes you can drop off your bags and come back later, but allow PLENTY of time to go through customs at the port, it's a very slow going process.

How early can you start in the line for security and customs? Our boarding time is 11:00 so can we start the security process before that or do we have to wait until 11:00?

Thanks,
Kevin

Just to clairfy, you are assigned a port arrival time, not a boarding time. You get your boarding number assignment when you check in. If you get there before 11AM they might not be ready to accept guests but there is no way to know if security/customs is cleared and ready before 11.

Hi,
Thanks for the tip. Is this terrace accessible BEFORE or AFTER we go through security. It would be nice to take my 3 kids up there while we are waiting for our boarding number to be called. They always get so antsy.

THANKS!!!
