Walk up Dinning

Just a quick question we are going the last week in April/ first week in may we don't have the dinning plan but there are a couple of places we may want to eat at. So I was wondering, will it be possible to maybe just walk up to some of the restaurants and get seated? I though since maybe its not a big dinning period it might be possible! Thanks in advance!

Yes, it's possible to do walk-ups at some dining locations. Notable exceptions are the popular ones such as Be Our Guest, Le Cellier, Cinderella's Royal Table, etc.

It depends on the restaurant. Which places you are considering? It will be easier to give you better advice if we know where you are wanting to dine.

Yep! People cancel.. Or you might just be lucky. Just make sure you have a back up plan in your head incase the answer is no.

Even though you don't have the dining plan you can make ADR's if you want to.

Walk up DINING
There- fixed it for you.

If there are restaurants that you know you want to dine at, make ADRs. Save yourself the disappointment of being turned away. Just be aware that some restaurants have a 24 hr cancellation policy.

This! Make ADR's. most liky the restaurants you want to try are the same one's EVERYONE wants to try and a lot of those don't accept any walk ups. Even if someone cancels they just wait for someone to call and make an ADR for that time.

As others have said, it's possible. People cancel and some places don't fill up with ADRs. You're best bet is to go at off times (e.g., after 1:30 pm for lunch or after 8:00 pm for dinner). I'd make an ADR if there is some place specific at a specific time you want to eat. Otherwise, if you're flexible, you are bound to find somewhere (it just might not be your first choice) that is taking walk-ups.

Definitely keep checking. If you want to eat in a park and you plan to be there all day, you can check with guest services (or the restaurant directly) to see what times they might have available that day. That would help you know how to plan your day and get you an ADR without much effort. Have fun!

If you really want Chef Mickey's, check often to try for a reservation. Walkups are not guaranteed and at peak mealtimes they are not likely at the very popular places like Chef Mickey's.

I just want to add something. A lot of restaurants will take walk ups

However, some of the super popular restaurants are turning away walk-ups. The only way to get in to them is call Dining and try to get an ADR for that day in case someone else cancelled.

I'm seeing this a lot on the Disboards. People reporting that they went to the check in desk, said they were willing to wait a few hours, but were told no way.

Yes, you can still try and walk up and get a table. I actually read a Trip Report on here where they didn't book ANY ADR's, which is something they always do. Everyday the husband suggested walking up to places like Ohana and others that are popular and every day they were able to walk up and get a table. I forget the time of year they were there, but I was blown away! It is much more relaxing doing it that way, yet not assuring. Good luck!

During our last trip in Feb we tried to walk up to Be Our Guest and was told it would be a 2 hour wait. Also the lady at CRT laughed when we asked.

We were successful at Whispering Canyon, Trails End, Kona Cafe (lunch)
