Tips for Jedi Training Academy

Does anyone have any special tip for Jedi Training Academy? I mean, what could you do in order to increase chances for your chld to be picked to go on stage, instead of just watching the show?
My son keeps talking about this, and I would hate to see him being disapointed.... but I know it is out of my control.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Wear Star Wars attire
Have a sign that says something like, "The force is strong with me", etc
Jump up and down and be very enthusiastic

In this order too. The last is what every kid does that wants to be picked. My eldest has made it 3/3 times just by raising his hand and waving. The last time he was a bit embarrassed so he stood there pretty timid with his hand up but still got picked, so it's not always the most obnoxious enthusiastic kids who get picked. I've never seen a kid turned down in a Star Wars tee-shirt. Never seen a sign but that seems like a sure bet too.

Good luck.

After reading the various threads about how to get picked...

We went with signs. Both kids held up their signs, as they were begging to be selected.

I had made them at home before our trip and tucked them in the luggage.

On Disneyland day we took the signs with us. We rode a few rides before going to the first Jedi Class of the day.

The signs worked for us!! They were the first two kids chosen.

My DGD is a little thing. Here's what her sign said.

Quote:
I'm a little short for
a Stormtrooper

But not for a JEDI!!!!

Pick me!!!
The signs were easy to make on the computer and no problem packing.

We'll do the same thing when they want to do it again on other trips.

it's not overly difficult to get selected. They bring up something like 30 kids. They actually don't mind having more subdued kids either, as they fit appropriately with some of the jokes the Jedi use during the show. Just try to sit up front if you can and keep your hand raised.

These are all really good ideas, but when we were there in Jan, we saw a little girl in princess Leia costume, hair and everything on her dad's shoulders waving like everything, who was overlooked and not picked. She was so sad looked like she was going to cry. My advise would be to prepare your child that you might not be picked and come back for the next showing time to try again.

Maybe the girl was too young. They seem to look for kids that are old enough to follow directions without their parents standing by their side.

I've also seen them pass over the kids whose parents are "helping" them out. It almost seemed deliberate.

Age matters as well. When my son was six, he was not wearing a costume, but he stood up straight, closed his eyes, stood perfectly still, and put his hands together in a meditative position. He got selected. A few years later, at the age of 10, he was wearing a jedi robe and tried various things, and twice did not get selected. I think your best bet is to make sure your child is up front and holding a sign with a cool jedi quote in HIS handwriting. As a teacher, I will tell you the kid handwriting is more likely to work.

Make sure your sign is no bigger than 8.5 by 11. My friends got their sign taken away because it was 11 by 14!

Or make the sign in two parts each 8.5x11 and then tape it together once you are inside...

Or make the sign a nice bright color. Ours was printed on yellow paper (and we were in the front row) and our six-year-old had no problem getting chosen even though he was in a Mickey shirt, not a SW one.
