New issues with RFID annual passes

Someone reported that an issue has popped up with the new RFID APs that Disney has been having passholders swap to: the Disney Web site is unable to register the passes, so those passholders have been unable to use the passholder Web site to book discounted stays or AP discounts on events and such.

Has anyone heard anything more about this? Cheshire Figment? Robo?

It says right on Disney's website they are unable to register the new RFID passes, so you need to call to book any type of passholder discount.

Thanks ManyMinnie! I must have missed that on the passholder site. But geez, I know Disney had to scramble to do these RFID APs when the MagicBand project got pushed back, but why can't the right hand of this company figure out what the left hand is doing.

And how in the world will EVERYTHING about this system run through this mess of a Web site when it can't even handle the simplest of tasks.

Yup.

Exact wording from Disney's site...

Did you purchase a new pass or convert your pass to one of the new cards after March 19, 2013?
We are sorry, but we are unable to add your passholder affiliation at this time. If you wish to book a Disney Resort hotel stay, call (407) 560-PASS or (407) 560-7277 to make your reservation and receive your passholder discount. Guests under age 18 must have parent or guardian permission to call. Please pardon our pixie dust while we prepare to roll-out MyMagic+ enhancements for your enjoyment later this year

Wow! The last day of our recent trip was March 19th, so we could not switch to RFID form paper AP, which annoyed me no end. But now, I am feeling better about it.

Question/clarification: With RFID AP you are unable to access passholder section of the site at all? Or just cannot book AP discount?

I think you're able to access it because you already have an AP you just switched over, so your number would still be in the system.

If you've bought a new AP (that isn't a renewal) that is RFID, I'm guessing you won't be able to see the passholder part of the site.

But who knows with Disney IT. I may very well be wrong.

Most people wonder the same and have serious concerns about MyMagic and FP+ just due to Disney's IT incompetency.

I was just coming to the DIS to see if anyone had spread the word. I was planning to convert my AP this weekend - nope. I refuse to call every time I need to check AP resort rates (which is OFTEN), so I'll deal with longer waits at the turnstiles for a while longer. ~sigh~

I can't get into AP site now as far as I can tell. I see same stuff DH sees and he hasn't had an AP in years. I was fine until site upgraded but now it will not let me log into that part of site even though I'm logged in otherwise. Maybe it's my computer but I doubt it.
I can see special offer for rundisney, spring ap rates, dscounts you can get with ap.

Right after the upgrade (now months ago) I, too, was unable to access AP area of the site. The solution was for help desk at Disney to reset my password (twice, but who's counting ). But all good since then. IT folks I talked to said it was common problem, with a thankfully easy fix.

But of course I did not have RFID when that happened.

I am not going back to WDW until June...probably be a whole different set of issues by then. CM that renewed our APs in March said (stipulating CM's know very little) working plan was for bands to be out by June.

I just cannot imagine what could be so complex about making it work with the new cards... do the RFID cards not have numbers you can type into the AP portal? Ridiculous.

They don't even have printers where they are doing the conversion for current passholders, so CMs are writing your names on the pass by hand.

What you and I see as simple tasks may not, in fact, be very simple. I have on many occasions been guilty of pushing seemingly simple tasks to my IT guy only to find out that there are huge technical roadblocks to fulfilling my request.
