Easiest way to make a personalized map?

I need to include a map with DS's graduation invitation that will show about five locations covering about 30 miles (our house, hotel, school, hall, etc).

I can old school it and hand draw it, but there has got to be an easier way using technology.

Has anyone done this? How?

TIA!

Terri

Google Earth, not google maps. Download the Google Earth ap (if you haven't already). You can add points of interest, label them, change the color of the pins, whatever you want, then File -> Save -> Image. It saves as a jpg file that you can then use.

Instead of having to download an app, can't she just add the points of interest on the map, and save it as a screenshot? Most people already have a program to put a screenshot into: Microsoft works, a photo editor that can make it a jpg file. I think it can even be made into a bitmap file in the Windows Paint program.

OR, she may even be able to do highlight the picture and copy & paste it directly into an email. Or save the image to Photobucket first. Then copy & paste into an email or whatever.

Unless I'm missing it, I don't see a way to add a POI to google maps. If I hover over a location and right click, I get:
Directions To Here
Directions From Here
Zoom In
Zoom Out
Center Map Here
What's Here
Report a Problem

Google Earth (free BTW) I like for other things too that google maps won't do... primarily measuring. You can measure (feet, miles, km, whatever) property lines, paths, just about anything.

Ok, I'm stuck . I found all the places and saved them under my favorite places (or whatever it's called). Now how do I get them all to show on one map to either print or save?

(I know, read the directions, too easy...)

Are you using googlemaps or Google Earth?

ETA: I found out how to do it in Googlemaps
Googlemaps:
Myplaces -> Create Map (you might have done this already)
In the upper left corner of the map, click the teardrop and place it where you want it on the map. You can label the point too.
Repeat previous step as many times as you wish.
Save the map (click 'Done')
I don't see a way to directly save as a picture, but once you have the map looking correct on your screen, press the 'Print Screen' button on your keyboard
Open up your favorite imaging editing program (MS Paint will work), and press CTRL-V. If you have to expand your canvas, that's fine. Manipulate the image (crop, size, whatever) to look how you want it
File -> Save As

Google Earth

Find the places you want.
Just above the map on the top left, click the icon that looks like a pushpin. Put it on the map where you want. You can label & change color as desired.
Repeat the above step as often as you like
File -> Save -> Save Image
It will save on your computer as a jpg file

Like I said, I prefer using Google Earth, but it can be done in googlemaps

Or just screen shot the map and save it as a jpeg. Open in paint or another editor and add points yourself. You could use personalized icons that way.
