Increase in Ticket Prices ?

Hi

I am planning a family trip to DL next August.

Can you tell me when ticket prices typically go up? I seemed to think it was during the month of August.

If we purchased our tickets this year, the expiration clock would start when we first used them right?

Is there any one place to purchase that has better prices than others?

Thanks!

August 2014?

Tickets bought today are only valid until December 31, 2013.

If you do not activate by then you would have to pay the difference when they are activated in 2014.

Ticket prices usually go up in May, last year I think it was April. There are a couple of recent threads about it, since we are expecting an announcement any day now.

Last year the ticket prices went up on May 20th. There is no set time the prices go up...It varies each year. The Disney Parks Blog will more than likely make the first announcement. You may want to consider subscribing to it.
There is no downside to purchasing your tickets now. You get an e-ticket to take to the turnstiles for your cardstock ticket. It just has to be done prior to 12/31/2013 to avoid paying any difference in ticket prices.
Some people have reported getting discounted prices on tickets at way.com and lastminutetravel.com. If you are a member of AAA, you can also see what sort of savings they may offer (if any).

As others said, there is no harm to buying tickets now, but there is also no benefit, as you'll have to pay the difference next year anyway.

So in other words if I dont use them by the end of the year, I would have to pay the difference. I get it. No advantage to buying them now.

Can someone send me the link for the blog as a previous poster had menhtioned. Thanks.

Here is the link to the blog.

I thought you were going August this year. Yes...It will not matter this year. Just buy them early on next year in order to avoid next years price increase.

Actually, if the OP is talking about August 2014, then s/he does not need to buy now. I would wait until the tickets that are good until the end of 2014 are released, then purchase. Why? Because then you'll only have to pay for one price increase. If you buy them now, they expire and when you use them August 2014, you'll likely have to pay for 2 price increases because you'll have to pay up to the then-current price.
