Has anyone eaten at Sanaa as a solo? I would love to try it, but keep putting it off in case my sister comes with me some time (I know she'd want to eat there) because so many "mmm, that sounds good!" things seem to be for sharing (bread service, appetizers, salads, etc.).

We had the most delicious Orange Sesame cake for dessert last year. In fact it was the best dessert of the week.

I don't see it on the menu now

Can anyone who is about to go ask about it???

I was so looking forward to it in July!!!!

Dined there in October and January and don't remember an Orange cake and I would have ordered it if it had been there!

I've been waffling about making an ADR because I didn't want to overload ourselves, but I have been dying to try it. This was the push I needed! I got a 5pm so we can watch the animals during our meal, after our day at AK of...watching the animals.
My other plan was to get something light at the Jiko bar.

I think Sanaa will be cool and am REALLY looking forward to it.

Hmmmmm, next month??? Maybe you could ask the waiter to ask the chef if the orange sesame cake will make a comeback by July?

Just don't expect the food to be anything like Jiko's because it is not like Jiko. I dare say anything negative on this thread about Sanaa and I know I will be flamed for life. We read the almost unanimous amazing reviews here about it and I couldn't wait to try it and looked forward to it and it ended up being a big disappointment and everytime I mention this on the boards I get bashed, but just wanted to say not if you don't expect it to be like Jiko you should be happy with it. I expected Jiko and Jiko it was NOT! Flame suit is ON!!

I've eaten at Sanaa twice as a solo, once for lunch, once for dinner. Both times I asked for and got a table by the window. Watching the animals (and once a snake came right up to the window to visit made the time go by fast. I enjoyed lunch much more-fewer people so it was very quit and service was much more attentive.

Since I'm completely ignorant of either, there aren't any expectations. Both menus sound tasty and I have a naan fixation.

Aargh! This is why I've vacillated. I love the idea of eating tasty food with a view of the savanna. I've also read the fantastic reviews of Jiko, but we won't order substantial meals-hence the lounge.
We're doing AK early in the week, so if we're disappointed we can always go to Jiko instead of one of the Port Orleans lounges later in the week. If we can manage another family vacation within the next couple of years, I can get a romantic Jiko dinner with DH and drop the kids off at one of the Clubs

We'll see what unfolds.

No flames from me Everyone should be able to post honest experiences without starting a Witch Hunt!!!

I never understand why so many people LOVE certain places, and I wouldn't go back for a glass of tea, but that is what makes all of us CRAZY Disney fans unique!!

I do want to give Jiko a try one year.....the menu looks fantastic!!

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. We have been to Jiko and Boma and love both. I know the cuisine is different than those, and I'm an Indian food freak, so am excited to try it when we go next year.
