Will We Enjoy Napa Rose?

The real title of this thread should be "Will my boyfriend enjoy Napa Rose" but I didn't want to be too specific, haha. Anyways, we both love to eat and I would absolutely love to try the Napa Rose when we go to Disneyland next month for his birthday. However, my boyfriend is a super simple eater - he likes meat. That is it. He also frowns heavily on nicer restaurants with smaller portions. He really likes Blue Bayou and I am thinking he'll like Carthay Circle but with the prices of CC being damn near NR but the reviews being much less enthusiastic, I was thinking it would be great to try NR instead. So tell me - will Napa Rose be satisfying even to the guy who's favorite meal is a pound of meat and potatoes?

I believe your boyfriend and my DH must be twins..

I have this fear too when we someday actually eat there. Actually I tossed out the idea of us doing Carthary Circle for lunch or something and he texts me back " There's nothing on the menu I think I would eat aside from the burger"..

I've researched lots of thread s, searched for photos and experiences at NR and I think it has alot more options overall..I'm a huge foodie and fascinated by the different cooking shows and amazing different cuisine in the areas. I am hopeful that your boyfriend will enjoy the offerings and be a little more open..though I know what it's like having someone who is basically "meat and potatoes".

I hope some others can chime in with photos/recent experiences as I am curious too !

Napa has "guy meat." Lol. My husband loves a good filet mignon or any kind of steak, really. The portions on those dishes seem to be bigger, IMO. I've seen pictures from a friend of their meals...

He sounds just like me. I had a hard time finding something I liked on the menu ... especially the side dishes, but they were great about it. The waiter told me I could substitute other entre's "set ups" or "side dishes" for the one i didnt like. I ended up with a very delicious Swordfish with white rice that was amazing .... also they served us a small sample of their mushroom bisque that was incredible. This picky eater really (and surprisingly) enjoyed NR.
Note: I still refuse to have dinner at the Carthay Circle and when we had lunch there the Burger was the only thing that I was mildly interesrted in.

For us, I am the picky eater and DH will eat anything.
He loves Napa Rose. I love the experience and I do love the mushroom bisque I get that and a steak and am happy.
We will be going again in April for his birthday too.

We are going to try Carthay Circle on our June trip for our anniversary...........we'll see how that one goes.

Awesome, thanks! And isn't it frustrating!? I made fajitas the other night and he picked out every vegetable so all he had was chicken on a tortilla. I'm a human garbage disposal - there really isn't much I don't eat.

Awesome first-hand account - thank you so much! I'm thinking if they work with him, we can get him to be happy. But if they don't, he will be one grumpy boy haha.

When is your husband's birthday? My boyfriend's is 4-20 so we're going 4/21 - 4/21. I'm so excited!

Hah yeah..Ive gotten used to adapting recipes for DH..He swears off anything green and leafy..

One thing at a time but either way I'm sure it will be awesome

It's his birthday, so you might consider Steakhouse 55

I had a very poor meal at Napa Rose earlier this month, but Carthay Circle was excellent

I made a reservation for the NR Chef's Counter on 4-22 (8:30 seating).

If I don't make a complete trip report then I will certainly make one just for this!

My daughter and son-in-law did the Chefs Table this last Oct. THEY LOVED IT -- LOVE --LOVE --LOVED IT. I think after the wine pairing and tips the meal was near 400 dollars.

My son-in-law is a steak /and or hamburger guy. Mike was actually served a seafood dish that he ended up really liking. He is not a picky eater in my opinion but seafood is not a big pick for him.

I do like the fact that the chef's talk to you about likes and dislikes so they have a good idea when your dishes are made. Mike and Krista were served different plates from each other for all the courses.

The kids had the amuse daughter explained as a bacon gease shot with a froth on top. It was serverd in a shot glass. You "ate" it like a shot--- bottoms up. They both rave over this part of the presentations.

The kids are not rich by any means-- they have 2 kids a wonderful son age 9 and a sweet and cute daughter that is 6. Ok grandma is a bit proud. Krista said they will be doing this meal again on the next trip to DL.

Maybe if they hurry up and go before the kids get to old I will get to go -- just so I can baby sit------ Ya right-- Kids and I went down to the restaurant at PP and we had our own little chefs meal. Austen did make his own pizza-- and lilly and I did order-- does that count of kids chef's table? Yep it does. Husband stayed in room to watch football so we were nice and took something back to room for him.

To the OP-- go --have fun---get a reservation for the Chefs table. It will be near same price as ordering sperately.

He will love it! It is much more for meat guys than anyone else. My DH got a few meaty things (some sort of steak- rib eye?) and was thrilled.

I think this is a good decision. For him, Steakhouse 55 may have been a better choice if you were to dine at a normal table, but being at the chef's table will alow the chef's to cater his meal to him and who knows, maybe they'll make him something that will expand his horizons a bit.
