Disneyland in September

I have been to WDW several times, and truly love it! But I am thinking of trying Disneyland this year instead. (Yes, I do feel like I am cheating on WDW). So, I am thinking of Sept. 22 thru Sept 27...no kids on this trip...is this a good weather month? Will there be a lot of refurbishments? When do they close Haunted Mansion to re-do it for Halloween? Would it likely already be done then? I could go in October if that would be better...
I know a lot of good tips for WDW, but I need help with Disneyland! thanks in advance to all you experts!!!!

There have been a lot of threads about this time of year recently!

It will be warm definitely. We were there during a bit of freak weather and a couple of days it was 100F and this was towards the end of September to early October.

We were dying. lol.

I love wunderground for weather info - http://www.wunderground.com/history/....html#calendar

I think you will miss most of the refurbs as I think Halloween official starts in the middle of September.

Thanks for your response. Hmmm, maybe October would be better, weatherwise. I would melt like a Mickey Ear bar if it was 100!!!!!

Thunder mountain rr is closed until oct 31. Otherwise though its a pretty good time to go. It's a lower crowd season with hours that are still late.

We went the 2nd week of Sept 2012 and hit some heat. I think it was in the low 90's the whole time we were there. It was definatly bearable though. The best part of it all was No lines! For anything! I think the longest we waited for something was 15min and that was because after about 5pm it tended to get busier but nothing like summer. We will def try and go in Sept whenever we can. This year we are going for Halloween time.

Thanks sooo much, everyone. I am getting excited about trying Disneyland! Ok, who is up for another question? Is the Disneyland hotel a good place to stay, or is a "Good Neighbor" hotel just as good?
I have lots of questions, stay tuned!

It's an awesome place to stay, if you can afford it. I thought this article summed it up pretty well.

See you there in Sept

Thanks. I am considering October...would love the Halloween décor and party, and since I am a fan of "Nightmare Before Christmas", would love to see the Haunted Mansion with that theme. Also, concerned about the heat!

We went Sept. 22-26 the last two years in a row and it was the perfect time to go! Weather was hot most days, but cooled down a bit later in the week. 2012 way much warmer than the same time of year in 2011. Very minimal lines, but not as much entertainment, shorter hours and a few refurbs.

I think October can be much busier than September, especially during Gay Days.

I need to do some more reading, obviously. I didn't know about gay days. Seems like September does have a lot of fans. Thanks.

Convention tickets will be (probably already are) available for Gay Days as well as discounted DLR property rooms.

I'll be there about the same time. The gay days weekend is really fun, but very, very busy so if you hate crowds avoid it. I like late September as you still get good weather, but it isn't as hot as the summer is. Last year it was a heat wave that lasted into October. This is by far my favorite time to visit Disneyland...
