Compare WDW CL to DCL Concierge

We travel to WDW annually, and for the past few years we have stayed CL (at YC, and this year we are trying BC and BWI). I like the convenience of the lounge food. We spend a lot of time at the resort, so having the lounge available is a nice perk for us. We don't use their IPO for booking ADRs and I've never asked for anything special from them. I don't drink alcohol so the beer/wine/cordials don't matter to me.

Last month we took our first ever cruise and we loved it. I've booked the Dream again, same stateroom, for a trip next year, but I am considering upgrading to a concierge room. Given how I use the WDW CL, I am wondering if DCL concierge would do much for me, since readily available food options already abound on the ship.

Based on how I use WDW CL, what does DCL concierge have to offer me?

Thanks.

We've used concierge at BC once and DCL several times. I didn't find that we used the concierge service enough to warrant the cost at the hotel but I wouldn't sail without concierge now that we've used it!! They completely spoil you, especially on the newer ships. If you can afford it, go for it.

How do they spoil you? I am hoping for specific examples of it to help me decide.

I don't feel like the Concierge benefits on the ships is worth the premium. However, if you can get a Concierge upgrade at the port, it might be a worthwhile treat, since it will cost a fraction of what it "should" cost.

We are used to staying CL at the resorts as well. We took a Dream cruise last year, were in a category 4D. Considered upgrading at the port, but it would have been $600 plus additional tips at the end of the week. We thought about it for a second, and the TANGIBLE benefits were just not worth it to us at that point in time. We had already stretched our budget to even take the cruise, so we didn't want to push it any further.

The TANGIBLE benefits are: cocktail hour each day (i.e. free liquor), extra food in the lounge, upgraded cabins (furniture and such), private sun deck, ability to order room service from Palo, a personal staff to help us out.

Honestly, this was our first DCL cruise, and we felt WAY spoiled in our "regular" cabin. The room was beautiful, upscale linens and furnishings, and there was so much food available that any more would have just been overkill. We enjoyed ordering specialty drinks from the bars and having the beer mug. We really never needed any personal assistance, and we had no use for a private sun deck. We were very happy to use the public sun deck that had all the fun nearby anyway (pools, hot tubs, aquaduck). We didn't book any excursions and didn't want any special spa times or a cabana on Castaway Cay. We ended up glad we didn't upgrade, because I feel like it would not have been worth any additional expense.

It's totally a personal choice, but for us, the Cruise FELT like CL at the resorts. I can't imagine why Concierge on the cruise is even necessary, or how it can really be that much better.

Wow!! You are obsessed with Carnival! The OP is asking for a comparison between WDW Concierge level to DCL's Concierge level. Nothing about the "evil" Carnival corp here. LOL

Are you ok? Is this a joke? The OP never asked about Carnival. How do you get to Carnival from Walt Disney World Concierge Lounge?

We've cruised both as concierge and non-concierge on both the Wonder and Fantasy. While it's totally true that you are pampered both ways, there are many benefits to concierge on a cruise. Again, I would say that this is more true on the Dream or Fantasy, due to the concierge lounge and the hosts and bar tenders in the lounge. They did everything for us that we asked and suggested things that we didn't know about. Our kids are grown so it's just the two of us. We could just sit in the lounge and have a snack and a drink (or two ) or go up to the sun deck and relax without the crowds. The hosts know your names by the first day and they are always there to make sure you are happy. Again, it's hard to quantify whether the cost is worth it. It's up to you. I assume that if you've been using the concierge level at the hotels then you would love it on a cruise.

From our experience, the big distinction is that the hotel concierge can help you do anything you could do for yourself (check on resteraunt openings, fix an error on your bill, etc.) while the cruise concierge can actually make things happen for you (Palo reservations when it's full).
