This is our first cruise with children, so I'm betting I'll over-pack

I'm going to take another shoe organizer instead of the shelf organizer, just in case...

Thanks again for all of the advice!

I have heard that if you lift the beds on the Magic and Wonder, you can fit larger bags under them.

We have cruised the Magic, Dream, & Fantasy. Our first cruise was with 4 of us in 1 room on the Magic. We didn't have an over the door shoe organizer (didn't learn that trick until after the trip!) and I wish we'd had one. You just accumulate "stuff" on the desk, and its nice to keep it all contained.

If we were putting all 4 of us in one room again, I would definitely have 2 shoe organizers, because shoes take up a LOT of room in our closet! lol

We did find that the desk drawers were enough for our 2 dds stuff and we used the closet and steamer trunk for the adults' clothes.

Have a fabulous cruise!

We have cruised three times, on the Wonder, Fantasy and the Magic. We are a family of 5 and we always have stayed in a Deluxe family stateroom. My kids are ages 17,16 & 12. (The 17 yo is 6'1'')

While the staterooms are spacious and we had steamer trunks on the classic ships, I like to unpack and there is just not enought room for all the stuff my family of five brings on a ship!

After my first cruise, I started bringing an over the door shoe holder that I put on the outside of the bathroom door. I also brought this:

http://www.amazon.com/Honey-Can-Do-S...set+organizers

We also brought a similiar shoe holder (one that looks like cubbies) We were able to hang both of these in the closet on the side with the safe and still had plenty of hanging space. It was great to have a place to tuck all those shoes away and off of the floor (with it's mate!)

These fold flat and I kept these with my over the door shoe holder in a 2 1/2 gallon (or larger..I can't remember) ziploc bag ready to go whenever we travel!

Hope this helps! Have a great cruise!
Michelle

You have all inspired me I was debating whether or not to bring an organizer on our upcoming Dream cruise, but it sounds like it's a pretty valuable thing to have Even if we don't end up needing it, they don't take up much room in the suitcase at all.... Definitely worth bringing Thanks!!

We ended up not using out over the door organizer.

The rules about the over-the-door shoe organizers has changed as they were scratching the bathroom doors. Not sure what the "on board" rule is, will you be asked to take it down or not. On the Fantasy last March, we really didn't use ours so all I'm bringing this time is a jewelry hanger that fits over a hanger to keep KTTW cards in meds and chargers.

I think I'll pass, since I don't want to be assessed a fee for damage either.

I use a magnetic hook to attach to the bathroom door, rather than over-the-door handles. Works great and is very small, I store it in one of the pockets of the shoe holder.

I know this post is old but in case it helps someone else: We assigned each of our two kids a drawer on either side of the desk and it worked great! We participated in the Fish Extender gift exchange and as soon as they looked at their stuff, they put it straight into "their" drawer. We did also bring an over-the-door shoe organizer but that was just for having an easy way to see all our toiletries. Not sure what we'll do next time though, since they've asked folks not to bring those (causes damage to doors... scratches paint and can dent/misshape doors).

Just off the Fantasy. We used two large suction cup "wreath hangers" to attach our shoe organizer to the back of the bathroom door. Worked out wonderfully to have clear pockets to store sunscreen, sunglasses, post it notes, etc. Did not damage the door at all! Just lost the use of one pocket that was tucked behind the doorknob.

We always use Hey's JetPack packing shelves.
Never have any issues with them moving about in the closet on smooth or rough seas. They are awesome.. pack , compress and take out and hang in the closet in your stateroom. So quick to unpack!
