breakfast at CRT.

Is this all you can eat - I have heard conflicting reports. I know that it is not a buffet. Some people say you can order as much as you want and other say they make a face and are not happy if you order several dishes.
I am a vegetarian and plan to just order scrambled eggs and potatoes, if this does not fill me up, can I get some more? I don't want to spend all that money and come away hungry.

Thanks in advance

Katrina

Yup, it's all you care to eat. Including ordering something other than what you had the first time.

If the server "makes a face", tell 'em to lose the attitude and do their jobs. For a "signature" dining experience, this should never happen.

Thanks Cigar95.

Does anyone have any experience of ordering 2 dishes and the reaction being bad or good?

We have ordered more than one dish and never had a problem. Regardless of whether your server has a problem with it or not, it is the restaurant policy that you can order as much as you like.

While this is technically true, the OP does have a valid concern in that it's been our experience that the servers at CRT often don't make it easy to order seconds.

Upon requesting seconds, you may experience an annoyed sigh followed by the server conveniently "forgetting" about you. In the meantime, as you wait, everyone around you is settling up and leaving.

At this point, you're left with a bit of a dilemma: (1) do you go out of your way to insist on getting served seconds (this may involve an interaction where you'll be required to be more insistent than you'd probably prefer, followed by more waiting); or (2) just settle up with everyone else, while reminding yourself that this place was all about the experiences/princesses and not the food anyway.

Your server figures most people will chose the latter and hopes that you're no different.

Yes, I can understand that. However, if I asked a second time for the food and was still "forgotten" I would complain. The policy stands until Disney removes is and what your server thinks about you order more, isn't really any of your concern. Disney offers breakfast at CRT as "all you care to eat" which is a similar fashion to a buffet.

These reports of server indifference really surprise me. Granted, it's been a couple years since we've been to CRT, but we have never had a problem getting more food brought to me without a second thought.

It may be a result of going with an all-adult group, that our server realizes we're actually there in no small part for the meal.

Another option - know in advance what your options are, and when you place your order, say something like "I really like the sound of the granola and yogurt, but I think I'll start with the quiche." That way they know right from the start that you are planning to at least consider ordering more.

My other suggestion is to not be apologetic about asking for more. You've paid for an all-you-care-to-eat meal, and while you shouldn't be an abrasive jerk about it, don't be afraid to simply say "I think I'd like a second helping of the sausage and the bowl of granola and yogurt". You're not asking for any special treatment - you're just asking for what the meal includes.

I've mentioned this before on here, but more than once, dining as a single, I've been in an almost-empty CRT finishing up my meal, while they re-do the tables in between the first and second seatings. If you take a bit longer, you actually get to see a side of the restaurant that many don't. (Yes, diners aren't seated continuously - there's definitely a "lull" when the place almost empties out. Probably one at a bit after 9, and I would assume a second one at 10:15 or so.)

While dining at CRT for breakfast 3/15 when we first sat down our server told us each of us could choose a (read 1) breakfast dish that we wanted, when I inquired that I thought you could get more than one ( I asked in a very polite way, like maybe I was confused ) He said that if there was something I needed anything else, we could ask. While taking up finished dishes, he did ask if we wanted anything else, so I asked for the french toast since DS15 ate all of his and didn't share a bite. We also used TIW, instead of the DDP for this meal, so not sure if this made a difference.

I certainly would not be aggressive or a jerk towards a cast member. I hate confrontation. I just want to know that I will get a satisfying meal when I am paying a lot of money for it. My DH and I are big eaters and usually schedule buffet breakfasts. I would hate to have to call a manager over - that in itself would ruin my meal.

Thanks to all of you that have replied - it seems that as I thought there are mixed experiences. I hope we have positive one.

The ADR has been made really for the pleasure of my DD3, who will love it regardless.

Right - didn't mean to imply I thought you (or anyone else in particular) might be.

If there's an issue, just be pleasant but persistent, and don't be intimidated. If you have to ask a third time, ask a third time and they'll get the point.

Next year it will probably be time for us to go back to CRT again, and I look forward to sampling a few things from the new menu - not just one of them!

I had not taken it that way and was not at all offended by your comment. Thank you for sharing your experiences.

I hope you enjoy it next year too.

I hope to not have to be persistent but will ask again if the food is not forthcoming.

From the perspective of the price we pay for this, you have a right to be surprised (we've eaten at a lot of "true" signatures, and the service difference we've experienced between these and CRT is night and day).

But look at it from the servers' perspective:

At CRT, they get the same tip regardless of how long your meal takes. So the have great incentive to get you in and out with the least amount of effort possible and turn your table ASAP.

At a true signature, their tip could differ dramatically based on your impression of their performance. Plus, I believe they generally put much more talented servers at these restaruants than at CRT because the patrons have much higher service expectations and the restaurants depend on their service reputation a lot more than CRT (Disney knows people will keep coming to CRT even if the service totally sucks).

I personally believe Disney likes the fact that the servers at CRT are motivated to get you in and out ASAP. Turns more tables and means more $$$. In fact, I believe this is the main reason the tip is included.

I personally wish the tip wasn't included. It would force the servers to be a lot more accountable and make the whole experience better.

The only time we got seconds at breakfast at CRT was when our server asked us. I didn't think it was "all you care to eat" until that moment. We've never had a problem with a CM bringing out more food at breakfast since then.

I can see your point, however CRT almost never accepts walk ups, it's booked weeks or months in advance. How quickly or slowly you leave makes little difference because they won't be able to "fit" another family in.
