First time for 7-nt cruise...info/advice?

I've sailed on the Wonder (4x) and the Dream (1x) and I'm pretty knowledgable about the 3-4 night itineraries, dining rotation, activities, etc. Wondering if some experienced cruisers from the longer trips have info/advice about additional activities, dining rotation, formal nights, etc on the longer trips that would be helpful?

We're a family of 6 - 4 kids are preteen to teen. We've got 2 cat 12 rooms (connecting) abd will be sailing the W. Caribbean itinerary.

New to the boards and love seeing all the great info and experiences I'm seeing shared here! Would appreciate any thoughts you all have about the biggest differences to consider when planning the 7 nt vs short cruises.

Well, on a 7 night cruise there will be a formal as well as semi-formal night. I don't really pay much attention to the dining rotations, as we just take what they give us. Everyone will have the same menus, and you'll eat in 2 of the MDRs twice and one of them 3 times.

On the red bar above under the Staterooms tab is a link to previous Navigators to look over for an idea of the different activities onboard.

With 4 kids, remember when packing there are laundry facilities. I only have one DS(16) and I cannot pack enough t-shirts for a 7 day cruise. I do laundry first thing in the morning or last thing before I go to bed.

My teen likes to dress up on Pirate night so I have to remember to pack something for him.

It would be helpful if we knew which ship you were considering for the 7 night cruise. Different ships have different offerings.

Fair warning - once you sail a 7-nighter, you'll be hard pressed to go on a shorter cruise - you'll find the longer cruise is awesome.

And another fair warning - don't get lulled into thinking the extra nights gives you plenty of time to participate in the activities - because you'll find there is STILL not enough time to do everything on the ship. Spend some time relaxing, too, but just know you may feel like you have all the time in the world to get to see that movie, go in that shop, sit in that deck chair - but it will go by fast.
