Vacation recommendations

I have credits for a round trip for my family of four to anywhere air tran flies from Houston. My sons are 13 and 11. Other than disneyworld/land, which are possibilities, we could fly to cancan, San Juan, Aruba, Bermuda, or Jamaica. As far as fun for kids ours ages and affordability, can anyone recommend any particular destination and/or resort(s)?

My preference is somewhere safe, clean, relaxing but not too boring for tween/teens. I love Disney for those reasons, but would like to maybe save some $ and do something different .

I have been to Cancun on our honeymoon many moons ago and San Juan on our recent cruise. Not too sure about either due to crime rates, but if a specific safe resort/area was recommended I am open as I know those might be cheaper? I know there are travel sites more geared for this, but I just don't know where to narrow it down. Plus I figure dissers have similar tastes .

Thanks!!

Any of the palace resorts or the dreams resort in cancun I know people who have been recently and they say they are fairly safe. I however would go to Disney since it would be the safest and your kids would love it .

Have you ever been to the US side of Niagara Falls? You would fly into Buffalo, NY I guess.
We went there last summer and all 3 of my kids said it was as much fun as WDW. They were 13, 9 and 5 when we went. We did the Maid of the Mist and Cave of the winds, both are extremely affordable. We laughed so hard on the Maid of the Mist boat, it was amazing!!!
We also hiked some nature trails. There is a also a power plant there with free admission and science exhibits and things to do there(we did not have enough time to go) Wish we had gone for 5-6 nights instead of just 4! My kids keep asking to go back. we went the last week in June
There are also speedboats that go on the river but our youngest was too young and we were doing a budget friendly trip. Your guys would probably love it!
I posted some pix. on this thread.

Atlantis in Bermuda is awesome! The biggest cost is the flight, you can usually get great deals on the hotel stay. If you already have free flights then I would suggest there. We have been to Aruba and not a lot to do other than swim/snorkel for kids, but the weather is awesome. I have heard that all-inclusives in Jamaica are a good time, but have never been.

How about Club Med. It is great since everything is included in the price, it is safe. They have stuff just for teens, your able to relax, eat, drink (if you do) which is included in the price. You can check in at 0700 and use the resort. We have been twice and love it. They have swimming, sailing, wakeboarding, tennis, beachs.....

Do you mean Atlantis in the Bahamas?

Club med - I'll check in to that!

I appreciate any added reviews of these or others. Thanks!

What about a national park? Yellowstone, Glacier, Yosemite or Arches? You don't have to camp, they have hotels and cabins to stay in. We did Yellowstone and Glacier a few years ago and they were so awesome. Although not entirely budget friendly I am patiently waiting for my son to be old enough to do some of the OARS rafting trips. They look so fun. http://www.oars.com

Haven't been to Atlantis, but we tend to get bored at all inclusives pretty quickly. There is only so much time we can spend by a pool and eating before we are itching for an adventure.

Thanks for the oars recommendation. It looked so amazing, I cancelled our cruise in favor of an adventure to the wilderness

Yes, sorry the Bahama's. There's tons of stuff for the kids to enjoy. Pools, water slides, aquarium, beach, rides, etc... We went for 5 days over April vacation a few years ago and they REALLY want to go back. Everything is really close and they are usually offering pretty good deals like free nights, kids eat free and things like that to get you there. The hotel is awesome and they have special event all the time to keep everyone entertained. We swam with dolphins and rays, snorkeled and hit all the pools and slides. What stops us from going is usually the airfare (which you already have taken care of. The airfare for us is $4K for the flights alone. There are a lot of other places I would like to visit for that kind of money.

Good luck.

So jealous! I still have a year until my son will be 4 and we can go. My friends have been on adventures with them and they said it was fantastic.

Thanks but air tran doesn't fly to the Bahamas, or else I would seriously consider it!

I'm leaning towards another spring break Disney World trip. Last trip was AMAZING with low humidity!

The grand canyon is another idea, I saw they have a train which goes along the rim. Or possibly New York in the summer.

Sigh, nothing seems as fun as Disney though, lol.

As much as I love Disney. I would love to go to Atlantis. We walked through the resort when we went on a cruise and it looks absolutely amazing, with tons to do.
