Confusion about POR?
To those of you who have stayed at Port Orleans Riverside, I have a question. I just emailed my travel agent to ask about switching over to POR from PORFQ. She said she couldn't guarantee that I would get the Magnolia Bend section of the resort. Does this mean I could possibly get Alligator Bayou when I get there? Aren't you able to express whether or not you want one or the other ahead of time as there is a big difference in the type of lodging you might prefer? Thanks for any insight into this.

You can request one section or the other but it'd only be a request. The only way to know for sure would be to book a preferred room, which would put you in Alligator Bayou, or book a Royal Room which would put you in the mansion section. Parties of 5 will automatically end up in the AB section. Hope that helps.

Your TA is correct. You can request it, but it's not guaranteed. The only way you can guarantee a MB room is if you book a princess room. We liked AB, and always request one. My kids like the murphy bed, and that they each get their own bed. We request an AB room and have always gotten it.

It has always surprised me that you can book all sorts of different view categories, but that the mansions or AB are just a request.
Love POR, though!

I've stayed at POR five times. The first 4 times I requested MB and ended up in AB. The fifth time we were a party of 5 so I couldn't request MB.

PPs are correct. Only way to guarantee Magnolia Bend is by booking a royal room. If you are a family of 5 or have a preferred room booked, you are guaranteed to be in Alligator Bayou. Anything else and you could end up anywhere in the resort.
We are two adults and always book a king room. We have stayed in POR twice and have requested and gotten Magnolia Bend both times. However, this was before the Royal Rooms which has taken over half of Magnolia Bend's inventory. Magnolia Bend has literally half of the rooms they did before due to the royal room additions. IMO, this makes it less likely to get MB - especially if you are traveling at a busy time and/or checking in late in the day. |
