A t5i already? Didn't the t4i just get here?
The big new looks like the SL1, as a true dSLR to compete with mirrorless in terms of size.

I thought the T4i was just released! No slam against the big 2, but that is one reason I stick with my manufacturer. The others just confuse me with their numerous releases. How many 18mp cameras does it take to make an image.

From the sound of it, it's a very slightly tweaked t4i. Almost no reason to even change the model number.

And pretty much the same sensor in the t2i, t3i, t4i, t5i 60d and 7d. Some tweaks but its time to roll something out that can compete with the DR of the new Nikon Sensors.

I have said it before but if i didn't have money invested in Canon glass I would switch to Nikon.

Really hope the 70d has what i am looking for.

Yes, the sensors rate very well. The same sensors perform better on Nikons than Sony, due to the translucent mirror taking some of the light.

Didn't realize that... it goes to show that the different brand dSLRs may indeed have some different strengths and weaknesses, but the differences are not night and day.
Though I am hearing more people complain about Canon sensors falling behind... It's still not as if the difference is that huge.

Although, even Sony's mirrorless NEX don't generally rate quite as high as Nikon on DXO.
There may be slight differences in the sensors because different sub models of sensors have different on chip phase detect AF pixels

Yes, they do end up with slightly different sensors. And other factors affect the dxomark score (including the lens tested with, I believe).

I've seen some reports suggesting that the RX100 and the Nikon 1 use the same sensor, and others saying the RX100 sensor is much more advanced, just the same size. Clearly not the exact same sensor, as they use different sensor based focus systems. (Giving the Nikon 1 an edge in focus ability, but the RX100 a big edge in IQ).

You do find though, when comparing the dxo scores of the Nex with Nikon dSLRs... the scores are very close.

The Nikon1 sensor is made by a different company, Aptina..so not all Nikon's use Sony sensors.

Although it appears that Aptina is very grateful that Sony has validated the marketplace for 1" sensors with Sony's RX100.
