Are kids allowed at the daytime beverage tastiings?

Is our son allowed to come and watch the tastings, or are these strictly adults only? He is not a kid who likes to be separated in new environments, so I fear the kids club may not be an option for us, but we'd like to partake in a couple of these. Just not sure if he could be in the room with us in a quiet corner somewhere....

I wouldn't think he would be allowed since the tastings are held in the adult only areas of the ship.

Two things:
1. My son was able to join me when I did martini tasting. Kids can go into bars on the ship as long as it is not one of the new ships at night.
2. Do your son a favor and make your son give the kids club a good try. We took a young girl with us that was 13 and she did not want to go to the kids club. I dropped her off and told he if she did not like it she could find me in the gym. In 5 minutes she showed up in the gym telling me she did not like it. I took her back and told her to give it a good try. I stood by the door and she started to leave after 3 minutes seen me and went back in. After 15 minutes I want back to the gym. The rest of the cruise I only seen her and my son at Dinner and if I was lucky for lunch. The kids clubs are not good for every kid but I would guess 55% of them love it and 35% never want to leave them.

OK, I guess I was wrong. It was my understanding that the tastings and mixology seminars were for adults only and held in adults only areas. Not sure I like the idea of kids in mixology.

Can anyone confirm whether kids are allowed in? I had been considering mixology, but knowing kids would be in attendance would nix it for me.

I know everyone here has completely well behaved children who would simply sit unobtrusively in the corner and read something educational, but it's those other kids I worry about.

ETA: While anything can happen depending on the CMs in place at the time, the Navigators say "Adult Exclusive Entertainment" and specify that guests must be 21 or over.

I was going to sign up for mixology as well but I don't think I will if kids are allowed. I checked on a recent navigator and mixology is in Skyline and on the DCL website it clearly says that Skyline is adults only.

Would love to hear from recent cruisers and DIS veterans if kids are allowed in the adults only bars for tastings.

The most I have ever seen at one of the tasting or mixology is one or two kids. The mixology that I attended was a ton of fun and people were crowded around the bar having fun. One of the couples had their son with them but he was at a table away from the bar. He was close enough to keep an eye on but not in the middle of the fun.

Skyline is only adults only at night, not during the day. That is where a few of us took our kids during the day for them to do their homework.

Europa on the Disney Fantasy
Europa, located on Deck 4, Aft of the Disney Fantasy, is a nighttime entertainment district exclusively for Guests ages 18 and older and is home to a variety of sophisticated lounges and nightclubs, including La Piazza, Skyline, O'Gill's Pub, Ooh La La and The Tube. From the whimsical to the cosmopolitan, each venue in Europa is distinctly inspired by the very best in European travel.

On all our previous cruises on the Wonder, the tastings were listed as adults only. I would be very upset if I had paid money and had kids show up. I don't care how well-behaved they are; there's language usage and conversations topics that are not child-appropriate and we pay for DCL so that DH and I have access to those adult-only spaces and events in order to enjoy that freedom.

If kids ever show up, I would either ask the CMs to enforce the rule or demand a refund. If it's an all-ages event, it should be listed in the Family grid of the Navigator, not the Adult.

The nightclubs are "adult-only" at night, not necessarily during the day; many are open to all passengers during the daytime. The mixology and tastings seminars are "adult-only" in that only adults can register and participate. Whether or not children are in the same room may be out of the control of the CM leading that group. Since these aren't usually more than an hour, one would hope the kids could manage to tolerate the kids club for that period of time. However, as a PP mentioned, some families may also be in that space for other reasons (homework, etc.) unrelated to the adult-only seminar taking place.

I have never seen kids at ant tastings. I would respect the other adults who signed up for the time and not bring my kids. Sometimes adults just want adult time and that is one reason why the kids' clubs were invented.

On our last cruise someone had children at the tasting and ultimately a cast member had to ask them to leave.

I went to a strudel making demonstration one afternoon, DS10 tagged along, and a CM politely told me that he could not stay as it was an adult activity. I would think the tastings would fall into the same category. I am guessing that is because they want to make sure adults have opportunities to be away from children if they choose.

One of the worst behaved kids I have ever seen at WDW was the child if a DIS member. She had little green mickeys hanging off everything with her screen name. So I looked her up.., every post she made talked about how HER child knew how to behave in restaurants etc...I guess in het world running through a restaurant SCREAMING constantly is "well behaved".

I agree. If you sign up for an adult only activity don't assume "well they didn't mean MY child". You are not really that special. it is not nice to show up and put the CM in a bad position by asking.

I asked a similar ? on here & one of my responses was as the adults were at the bar for Mixology the tables in the other 1/2 of the room were being used for a kids craft class or something... Rooms being used for double duty at times maybe?

I think we will see a lot of different responses because the tastings are held in different places. So one tasting on the Wonder might be in the adults only Cove Cafe, while another tasting on the Wonder might be in Diversions at 2:00 pm. So kids would be kicked out of Cove Cafe no matter when they were there, but kids are welcome in Diversions during the day.

Indeed, I have been to tastings at both these venues. At our Mojito tasting in Diversions at 2 pm, there were plenty of other people enjoying the lounge at that time, including children. At our rum tasting in Cove Cafe, there were adults who were not involved in the tasting, but no children.
