I'm following along so that I can live vicariously through you...it'll be a while before I take a solo (or even adults only) trip! We've stayed at All Star Movies before...the decor there is a bit louder, I'd say! Looking forward to hearing more!

We follow your reports because we know you Disney as much as we do. We know it is NOT your intention to bash Disney at all.

That looked like it could have been a candy corn margarita! Now THAT would be some good stuff!
I'm almost always on the DIS during the day at work. I usually leave it open and just check it once in a while. But I did do an update that day. I wonder if you are stalking right now waiting on another update?

I actually found your squirrel story quite funny. Well once I found out that Gabe was ok in the end.

I does look like Candy Corn doesn't it! I think I might have liked that better than the lime and mango.

That line is a little rough to stand in. I usually don't get in it unless it's short but I really wanted to ride this trip and didn't know if I'd be back by or not.

I went for Flower and Garden in 2011 and it was beautiful! I'm probably going to be back in May 2014. I'm looking forward to the food booths because they didn't have those in 2011.

I hope that your stomach didn't continue to bother you!
I know what you mean by a million pictures of the castle! I do that with Spaceship Earth too. I'm just compelled to take pictures of those for some reason.

Luckily my stomach settled down later that evening.

I'm glad you don't mind the TR not being so magical. I just worry that people will be turned off but I don't want to lie either.

That was the first time I've waited a while for Maelstrom.

I have to say, it's rare that I actually will finish an entire fiesta margarita, they're huge, and it's a lot to drink with how strong it is and not being able to go on any rides with them haha.

Can't say I've been on Malestorm since my first trip...lol...maybe that'll happen again next time?
Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who has throw out part of a fiesta margarita. There was just no way I could have finished the whole thing at that point.

I like Maestrom for the cheesiness! Maybe you'll get on it again one of thse days.

Welcome! (the actual welcome smiley is not showing up for me right now so that will have to do). Glad you can live through me. I really enjoyed the solo trip and can't wait to do it again. The only part of All Star Movies that I got a good look at was the front. My goal is to eventually stay at all the values and moderates so I'm sure I'll end up there someday.

Will My Pearl Be Small Enough This Time?

I headed into China with one goal in mind. First a few pictures:

I wanted to see the China movie so I could check it off my list. It was the only World Showcase movie I had never seen. I just missed a show so I walked around and checked out the waiting area.

I only walked around for a few minutes then decided to crash on one of the benches. I had been having some trouble with my hip and it was starting to hurt a bit. It ended up plaguing me the whole trip but I never let it stop me from doing anything. When I got home, I finally went to my doctor to find out what is wrong. She sent me to a hip specialist who sent me to a bone specialist. Iíve got an appointment next week with the bone specialist so hopefully Iíll have answers soon.

So I watched the China Movie and thought it was ok. Probably my least favorite of the World Showcase movies. But at least I can now say Iíve seen them all.

I spent a few minutes in the dump shop. I love the little doggie outfits they have for sale. If my Sierra was more of a girly dog and they werenít so expensive, I might have brought one home for her.

On my way out of China, I spotted this dragon topiary. He was really cool and breathed ďsteamĒ as you can see in the photo.

I realized at that point that I was running a little short on time. I stepped up the pace a bit and only stopped in Germany, Italy and America to get a few pictures. I was on a mission and needed to make sure I had time to complete it. First though I took picture number one million of Spaceship Earth.

A couple of pictures from Germany.

I never noticed these guys on top of the one building before. Heís kind of strange and the cod piece is very interesting.

I think I took this next picture to show the crowd levels or maybe I just took it by accident, who knows?

They had Snow White & the 7 Dwarves Topiaries. I only got four of the Dwarfs because there was a little girl standing in front of the other three and she wasnít about to move for me or any of the other picture takers.

As I walked, I noticed a lot of the Flower and Garden booths set up. I missed the festival by one day.

Drive by picture of Italy and the Lady and Tramp topiary:

When I got to America, I saw the Spirit of America Fife & Drum Corps was performing so I stopped to watch them for a few minutes. It was the first time I had seen them.

When I left America, I noticed that the Illuminations globe was already out. I decided I wanted to try to get the globe with Spaceship Earth in the background. It would have been perfect except for the guy that walked into my shot at the last minute and then just stood there smiling.

I continued on into Japan:

For anyone who is reading my other TR, you will know that I had tried 2 times on our Epcot day to get a pearl small enough to fit in the Cinderellaís carriage necklace. The pearl needs to be 7 ľ mm or less in order to fit in the necklace. Spoiler alert for that TR but I actually went back a third time and still got a pearl too big. So I wanted to try again on this trip.

It was really crowded and there were four groups ahead of me so I stood and watched for a while.

When it was my turn, I really impressed the girl because I remembered how to count to three in Japanese. So did I finally get the right sized pearl? Yes!!! I got a 7 mm pinkish pearl. Hereís my necklace:

I really love doing Pick a Pearl and will probably be back again sometime.

I walked through the rest of the Japan store but didnít buy anything. It was about 4:30 at that point and I knew that Mo Rockin would be playing at 4:45. So I headed out to get a seat for the show.

Up Next: Maybe Disney Isnít so Bad After All

That guy did just kinda grin and sit there, didn't he?

The topiaries look great. We've only been at the tail end (actually the day after Flower and Garden) once. No topiaries left up that I remember, but some of the flowers around the lagoons, etc. Even just that was pretty! I'm glad you got to at least see some of it.

We did pick-a-pearl with our moms in 2010. I did it, too, and ended up with twins! I was excited (they ended up making a nice pair of earrings), but I felt a little bad that we were there for our moms and I got the bonus. It was a fun experience - I'd do it again! Just out of curiosity, what did you do with the other pearls??

I have actually only seen the movie at Norway, though I've always planned to see the others. Some trip I will!

I really love all of the topiaries, though Lady does not look happy in hers!

Yay for finally getting a pearl that would fit in the Cinderella cage

It's too bad you missed the food part of the F+G festival! One of the highlights of my Oct trip was eating/drinking around the world at F+W. But hey at least you got to check out a bunch of the topiaries! Great photos, I especially liked Lady's puffy ears!!

I also love that guy in your globe photos!! Made me giggle

And yay for getting a right-sized pearl finally!! Maybe you could make a bracelet or something out of all the too-big pearls? :

Yay for finally getting a pearl small enough!! Pick a Pearl is DEFINITELY on my list to do next trip, and I want to get that necklaceÖ.maybeÖ.lol Iíll have to check out what other settings they have, and of course hope I donít get a too big pearl. Yay for finally getting a pearl that fits your carriage!

I love all three World Showcase movies (I choose to pretend that the Norway movie doesn't even exist. ) I don't know which one I prefer. France has the best music, Canada is funny and reminds me of home, and China is gorgeous.

Awesome luck to get twins! A Mom and Daughter picked right before me and the Mom got silver twins. They were beautiful. And the Daugter got the biggest pearl of the day, I think it was 8 1/2 mm. As for my other pearls, one I had made into a necklace. I picked the only cage that they had for my sized pearl. It turned out really pretty. The other two I just have in the original bags. I plan on taking them back in February and having my Mom help me pick something. You can do that as long as you have the original bag.

I kept saying that about the movies and I finally got them all in. I'm not sure if I'll ever go back and see them again but at least I saw them once.

I didn't notice that Lady looks unhappy but now that you mention it....

I was so excited to finally get the right sized pearl. I've worn the necklace a few times already and get lots of complements.

I was bummed about missing Flower & Garden. I just didn't realize I was missing it by one day or maybe I would have extended the trip by one day.

The guy in the globe photos is funny looking back. At the time though, I was just annoyed.

I did have one of the pearls set into a necklace. I think I'm going to take the two I didn't have set back in February to have Mom help me pick something for them. I think I remember a necklace that had two pearls so maybe that.

I really liked the Canada one. Martin Short made it pretty interesting and I love the music. France was not bad and I liked it slightly better than the China one because there were comfy seats!

I agree that there's a lot to do in WS. It's almost overwelming to try to get everything in.

You definitely need to try Pick a Pearl. It is so much fun and I think I'm addicted now. I will be going back again sometime. Oh, and there is an entire thread on here dedicated to Pick a Pearl. I know when I was looking, someone had posted pictures of all the settings.

Thanks, I was excited! I did like all three movies. I like Canada the best because it's funny. France edges out China in my opinion by just a bit because it has seats.

Maybe Disney Isn't so Bad After All

After finishing Pick a Pearl, I headed towards Norway and found a bench to sit on near the Mo Rockin stage. I took a few pictures of Norway from my bench:

About that time my phone rang and it was Mom. I had been texting her all day but she was at work and couldnít text back. She was driving home so she called to talk. I told her all about my trip up to that point, she was excited I finally got the right sized pearl. We talked until the band started and then had to hang up because I couldnít hear her anymore.

I spent about 15 minutes watching Mo Rockin before I had to leave for dinner. I really enjoy their music and try to catch them every trip.

I sent a picture of the pretty belly dancer to DH with the caption ďSomething you might enjoy when we come in OctoberĒ. I also sent him a picture of my appetizer from dinner that night and between those two pictures he finally decided that Disney might not be so bad after all.

At 5 pm I headed towards England where I was having dinner at Rose & Crown pub. As I walked, I saw some more topiary. Princes and Princesses between France and England:

Pooh and the gang in England:

I made it to Rose & Crown about 15 minutes before my ADR and checked in.

Their pager system was not working so the girl who checked me in asked me to wait in the Beer Garden. A few pictures from where I was standing. I didnít realize I got one of the fireworks barges in the second picture till after I got home.

I donít think I waited more than 10 minutes to be seated. I felt bad for the girl who was seating everyone. For some reason, instead of just calling a last name, she was going up to each party and asking them their last name. It was kind of awkward because not everyone sitting in the Beer Garden was waiting for dinner. She actually found me pretty quickly since I was the only one by myself.

I was seated outside which I liked at first. It gave me a chance to watch out over the lagoon. But I was seated in the row right against the restaurant so there were people between me and the water. I felt like I was staring at them the whole time so I ended up playing on my phone for most of the meal. I was also seated right below a heat lamp. While it was starting to cool off a bit it wasnít quite cool enough to need the extra heat.

I really didnít want a soft drink, I was thinking that I needed to get some water in me to help with my stomachache. The waitress said she would bring me bottled water and a glass of tap water.

She also brought a basket of rolls:

They were not bad but I only ate half of one because I had decided to order an appetizer. Rose & Crown has one of my favorite appetizers ever, a Scotch Egg.

They basically take a hardboiled egg, wrap it in sausage and deep fry it. The funny thing is Iím not the biggest fan of hardboiled eggs or sausage but when you combine the two, yum! I thoroughly enjoyed every bite.

For my meal, I ordered the Fish and Chips.

I was slightly disappointed in this meal. The fries were wonderful, they have some of the best fries Iíve ever had but the fish was kind of mushy. I was glad I got the appetizer because I ended up only eating about half of the fish.

For dessert I got what I think was called The Queenís Cake but I canít find it online to verify:

It was chocolate cake with raspberry sauce on top. The cake was very good but I wasnít exactly sure what to do with the stuff in the shot glass. It was liquid and didnít have much taste. I tried putting some on the cake but it did nothing for me so I just left it.

The service was also a bit lacking, my waitress was really slow refilling my water. I went about 10 minutes without even seeing her when I needed more water. Despite my fish being a little mushy and the waitress not the best, I will still be back again to Rose & Crown. As a matter of fact, I will be making an ADR there for October since Scotch Eggs are also a favorite of DHs.
