Yachtsman Steakhouse or Don Shula's Steakhouse?

We are looking at doing an adult only dinner one night during our trip.

If you had to choose only one of Yachtsman or Don Shula's which would it be? and why?

We used to love Shulas. But the last couple times it really went downhill! DH filet was a rolled piece of meat shaped like a filet instead of a medallion (for lack of a better word). The last time we all thought our steaks were too salty. I am a salt-a-holic and everyone was shocked that I agreed. We haven't been in a few years. I have friends that still go and love it. But I remember the days that if you ordered bottled water you got refills all meal long. Now you get a bottle and if you have 4 people in your party. You get 1/2 a glass each. For the prices. I say no way. Yachtsmen is very expensive too but I haven't seen them skimp like Shulas does. Shulas is very dark inside too. Yachtsmen is lighter. Ask for a table by the windows. With a view of the pool. Very nice!!

I didn't find Shula's that amazing. We did LOVE Yachtsmen Steakhouse though on our last trip. Here is my review & pics

I haven't tried Shula's but it generally gets good reviews.
We will not return to Yachtsman Steakhouse though. We tried 3 times and just did not like our entrees at any meal. It is a beautiful restaurant, the service was great and the onion rolls are to die for. But beyond that, we don't like it at all. I was truly disappointed as I wanted to like it like everyone else does.
Good Luck

Shula's gets a good following here on the boards, but we've never eaten there. Yachtsman, however, was amazing and is now one of our favorites .

Both are good, but Shula's has the better steaks. The lighting is dark, but there are WAY fewer children there, if looking for a quiet setting. We've done both, and wouldn't rule either of them out. They are by far the top 2 options for steak lovers at WDW.

We ate at both Shula's and Yachtsman last week and both were great. I don't think you can go wrong with either...dessert was MUCH better at Shula's--had the trio creme brulee. YUM!

Shula's has always been a favorite of our (plus that's where we got engaged). This upcoming trip we are venturing to the Waldorf Astoria to try the Bull and Bear.

Yachtsman = Buick
Shula's = Cadillac
Bull & Bear = Bentley (or at least an S-Class)

My main problems with Yachtsman are: 1) quality of the beef is good, but not great; 2) they have a poor track record of not delivering steaks as ordered (over/undercooked). Their menu choices are also rather limited compared to most steakhouses. To me, YSH is just an average mid-level hotel chophouse. It definitely ranks below places like Ruth's Chris, Morton's, Mastro's, etc., even though it is almost as expensive.

Wink

Just went to Shula's last week. Have been to Yachtsman in the past.

Love both but Shula's has the edge. The service was excellent as was the food. We split a Wedge salad (fantastic) and a double potato also very good.

I got the Sea Scallops which were cooked to perfection.
Sister got the Prime rib. Huge and tender. She could not finish it. We were most impressed The service staff is very attentive but they do not hover. Warm and very friendly.

Have not tried Shula's, but liked Yachtsman's a lot. If you do hit Yachtsmans, they have EXCELLENT sides, and you can change the side that comes with the steak with something different if you prefer that. The mashed potatoes and mac & cheese are both incredible, while the fries look very boring. Some waiters will offer the switch, while others won't, but all will do it of you ask.

Shula's hands down

We prefer Shulas over any other steak at Disney. It is by far the highest quality of meat comparing to Yachtsman, LeCellier or Jiko.

And the always make it to the temp you ask for.

Where is the Waldorf and why do people keep mentioning it when discussing Disney restaurants? Is the Waldorf on property? We always have a car and wouldn't mind driving to it if it's close to the resort.
