Value vs. Moderates
Won't you please join me in beating this dead horse? Would you rather spend 8 nights at Pop or 7 nights at a POR royal room? I realize this is purely subjective, but it's fun to hear opinions of others. Thanks in advance for humoring me while I obsess over ridiculous details.

POP I would never pay to stay any other way then value. We are only in the rooms to sleep so don't need anything else.

That is my usual response, but since you are staying a week either way (kinda) I would go for POR just to have the boat to DTD and the build your own pasta at the food court!

POR--if there were a huge difference in length of stay favoring POP, I would have chosen it. There's only a day difference, and I think the stay at POR will be much more enjoyable.

Hey, obsess away!!
![]() For one night's difference, I would probably go with POR. If you gained more than one night by staying at a value, I would go with the value resort. If you had asked 10 nights value vs 7 nights mod, I would say 10 nights value. Though time of year may make a difference, if you were going in the middle of summer when it is screaming hot and suffocatingly humid. The moderates have shaded bus stops at the resorts, and most of the values do not. The moderates also have benches at their resort bus stops, which the values do not have. Both are nice to have when it is very hot and sunny. |

POR - I would rather stay at a resort that has a pool slide. And there are other reasons (larger room, more amenities at the hotel, boat ride to DTD) but the pool slide is the clincher for me.

POR hands down! I would stay at any mod over a value anytime, even if I lose one day. Now deluxe versus mod is a different story. Sometimes the upgrade in price is just not worth it, although we have done deluxe. The difference in price from value to mod is well worth it for us!

I'd vote Pop - all the amenities like making your own pasta and bike rides sound great, but I spend next to no time at my resort so I wouldn't benefit from them. An extra day in the parks would be worth a whole lot more to me.
When I stayed at POFQ last year we didn't do any of that stuff, everyone raved about the boat to DTD and the band that played in the bar at night, but we were never there for any of it. But if you're the kind of person that really enjoys resort time, I'd say POR might be a better choice. |

Extra night at Pop. No doubt.

I usually look for ways to make my stay longer but if I had the choice, I'd choose POR with one less day.
Plus, I just prefer the theming of the POR resort to POP's.

I can't do double beds. So I would do what I had to to avoid that.

Since all a room is to us is a place to sleep and shower, I would stay at Pop and get the extra day--that and I love Pop

Love POP when the kids were younger, but now we really need the queen beds at the mods. We love POR royal rooms, they are pure disney magic, if you're okay with being surrounded by disney all the time. So we go with POR royal rooms. If you family can do the double beds, do POP. More days at disney! Nothing is better than more days at Disney. Have fun!

I have stayed at both POP and POR and although I loved them both, I would choose POP over POR. We found that there was an awful lot of walking at POR to the bus stops or the main dinning hall. POP didn't seem that bad when it came to walking and we stayed at the furthest building from the food court/buses. POP had so many pools to choose from and I felt like there was only 1 main pool at POR. Also, I believe the rooms at POP were renovated recently (maybe 2010). We stayed at POP 3 years in a row because of the savings, new rooms, awesome food court, really nice gift shop and mainly because you didn't have to share a bus with another resort (that might of changed with the new AoA?) Anyways, POP has always been a favorite for us and quite frankly it feels more like a moderate resort for the price of a value. Happy planning!
