Fam Dinner: Rose and Crown OR San Angel Inn?

Hi! I could use some help deciding on a final fun family dinner in EPCOT. We already have ressies at Akershus, Marrakesh and Teppan Edo, but I can't decide on the final night. (Can you tell love EPCOT? Would you choose Rose and Crown (I have 7:30 ressies....maybe Illumination viewing?) or San Angel Inn for a family dinner with 2 DDs (8 and 11)? We've never done either. Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Loved them both but 7:30 at R&C and Illuminations viewing would be my choice any day.

We like Rose & Crown. To me it's comfort food and the beer is good if you indulge.

The ambiance at San Angel Inn is very neat, however, we were not happy with our meal at all in Dec.

I am considering R&C for our Oct trip.

While I liked the setting of San Angel, we did not care for the food. As cool as it is to dine in there, I'd have to go with Rose & Crown. We've only eaten there once, but we really enjoyed it.

So Sorry but my experience has been opposite of PP for food. Didn't like R&C food at all. n fact we have only had a TS once in the 14 trips we have been there. DH has gone by once I think to get fish and chips again from the QS counter. The service was nice though. San Angel has a good vibe, but we have not eaten there in quite a while. DH has not liked their offerings for the last three years or so.

However, when we were at the R&C we sat beside a family from the UK. They had been in the US for two weeks and the 6 year old ate every bite on his plate (I think he had fish and chips). I am talking-moose licked it. Mum said it was the first real meal he had eaten since the American food was too rich. I think the opinion of a 6 year old from the UK speaks for itself.

I would eat at R&C, not based on my review.

For the life of me, I cannot understand why Rose and Crown gets great reviews. I thought that food there was bland. But then again, I cannot understand why anyone would eat at a British restaurant when there are Italian, German, and French restaurants near by. But if fish and chips is your thing....There is a saying that goes like this
Heaven is where the police are British,
The cooks Italian,
The mechanics are German,
The lovers are French, and it is all
Organized by the Swiss.

Hell is where the chef’s are British,
The mechanics are French,
The Lovers Swiss,
The police German, and it is all
Organized by Italians.

I would choose Rose & Crown. We enjoy it very much. The food is good, the service is warm and friendly. The setting is beautiful and the Illuminations view is great.
Have Fun

We really enjoy R&C but I can't compare it to San Angel because we have never eaten there.

Rose & Crown is bland but we consider this to be homestyle and a nice break from all the heavy food you eat at Disney. We have 2 other bland restaurants at Disney on this list that we enjoy Cape May & LTT. We enjoy the view at R&C beautiful at any time of day!

I have read reviews on San Angel and they were not that bad. Most people seem to enjoy their meal and are satisfied. They also like the atmosphere.

Good Luck! I hope you make the right decision for your family!

We prefer R&C as well. The 7:30 time should be perfect. Most times, you have to wait a few minutes for seating and you should be finished in time to step outside and see Illuminations (if you don't get a patio seat).

I love Epcot too!
I am a bit biased. I would choose Rose and Crown because my kids love the fish and I like the atmosphere. We are not big fans of San Angel Inn - it is just so crowded and I feel claustrophobic with the tables being so close (I have only been once).

I would do Rose and Crown and San Angel Inn and leave out Marrakesh. DH and I were not impressed at all by this restaurant. So glad we didn't take the kids there. It would have been a waste of dining credits.
To each their own though. We love San Angel and eat there every trip. Everyone has their favorites. That one is ours.

I love R&C. My family all loved their food there last June. They really loved the scottish egg! It is fried pub food, so if you like that kind you will be happy there. It is also a great viewing for the show!
