There thousands of cruise that go out a year. I think if there is only 2 ships that break down that is pretty good.

There are at least a few engine / propulsion problems on there.

And yes, Disney has a page too.
Good try. I am NOT reading all of that. I ask again, How many times has RCI left people stranded at sea or at port because their ship broke down? No one disputed "incidents". One poster tried to use Carnivals size as an excuse. Well, RCI is almost identical in size, yet don't have as many issues. Why is that? Oh, and how about the link to Carnival's incident page.

Back in 1994, DH and I took a Celebrity Cruise. We got to the port and found out there was a problem with one of the engines. The cruise sailed as planned, but slower, so they decided to skip San Juan. Because of that, we received a 30% refund.

Anyway, I've said it before and I'll say it again, it is absolutely stupid and irresponsible to leave the country without a passport.

This kid has the right idea:

DCL ships are not perfect. We were on the magic last year in Nassau and as we were about to leave the ship lost all power and all electrical power. CM's were running everywhere. There was some issue with starting the engines. We ended up being there close to an hour longer than we should have been.

It doesn't impact the person with the passport unless the ship can't go to the nearest port because of people who don't have passports. (This was NOT the case in the last Carnival incident, the ship had already drifted closer to TX). I don't think this has happened yet, but if it does I'm sure there will be an uproar and lawsuits.

I got stranded at port with RCI in APril 2005. I was on the Grandeur of the Seas when it hit the pier in Mexico. They did not handle it well at all. The wouldn't tell us what happened even though we felt the crash and saw all of the other people snapping pics. They trapped us on the ship for an entire day (supposed to be our day in port) while they hung up tarps to cover the hole in the ship. They disabled the internet and phones aboard so we literally could not communicate with the outside world. Then we got stuck in port extra time, they did let us off the ship, but everything in post was closed since there was not supposed to be any ships there that day. They ended up evacuating us from the ship and we had to fly home. I missed the jazz festival in new orleans, never got reimbursed for the hotel reservation I could not cancel (no phones or internet) and got home late and missed an extra day of work. Had to lug all my luggage across a large field in Mexico to get to the little plane they sent us home on. I got a 100 refund from RCI. Does that sound like a fun vacation to you? I will NEVER give RCI another dollar as long as I live. That was not a vacation it was awful. And talking on the phone with them to try to get compensated was like banging your head against the wall. I felt they should have paid for my missed hotel and my flight change fees.

Just looked at twitter and people are saying Carnival are flying them to Orlando (as someone already posted). There are some pushy reporters asking passengers to email them, send them pics. One station tweeted "any passengers need transportation from Orlando to Port Can?" #CarnivalDream

I can't believe this happened again. I thought my hubby was just kidding with me!
