Toss them!

Side bar, does anyone else get grossed out by raw chicken? I guess I should probably post this on the "tell us a secret" thread, but raw chicken seriously skeeves me out. I can't. I just can't.

No one can eat chicken in this house

Thank you Mrs. Greene my 10th grade biology teacher who scared the bejeezus out of me about raw chicken and salmonella.

I'm squeamish about all raw meat. I usually use tongs or a fork and then practically hose the kitchen down with Lysol. I have to psych myself up to make burgers and meatloaf and scrub like Lady Macbeth afterwards.

I almost always go with ... when in doubt, throw it out... just wasn't sure in this case, if it was cooked to a certain temp, it would kill any harmful bacteria. Definitely not worth the risk, tho.

Thanks everyone.

I just checked my oven, and the lowest temperature is 170 degrees. I've never cooked anything that low. I've always considered that to be a "keep warm" setting, for something that is ALREADY cooked. And actually? I'd rather zap it in the microwave than keep it warm in the oven. So, I never use that low of a temperature.

Low to me, is 300-325.

THANK YOU

I am the same way, except I channel my inner Joan Crawford (well, really Faye Dunaway's Joan Crawford) cleaning skills!!

Don't feel bad! Last week, 6 am, I put in the ingredients for chicken enchiladas. I came home to realize that I had put in the taco seasoning. In the packet. The packet was floating on the cooked enchiladas.

We had Chinese food instead

Ug, I've done that to a roast before! I'd definitely toss it, the only thing you've warmed up is germs!

See I probably would've fished out that packet & still ate the enchiladas

Me, too. I hate touching raw meat. (Beef is even worse for me than chicken). I still cook it, but I've got a variety of utensils including a big box of latex gloves. I am sure I look like I'm about to perform surgery. I'm sure if I lived alone I'd be an "at home vegetarian" just because I wouldn't want to touch the meat!

OP -- Glad you threw them out and the pizza was good.
