Maimi Hotel for pre-cruise stay?

If you are staying the night before where are you staying? And why? Is it near the beach or a view of the port? How will you get to the port the next morning? Trying to figure out where to stay!

I am staying at the Hampton Inn Blue Lagoon. We have stayed here pre-cruise twice already. It is near the airport, has a free shuttle to/from airport. Free breakfast. Stores and restaurants within walking distance. Last year we went back to the airport with the free shuttle and took a cab to the port (set fee from the airport), but this year I booked the stay and cruise room which has a shuttle to the port.

We planned to stay at Holiday Inn at port of Miami but they were filled(we use points.) We switched to Crown plaza by airport. They have a free shuttle to pick us up at MIA and then service they work with to take us to port $10 pp.

I booked the JW Marriott through DCL complete with transfers from the airport to hotel, hotel to port and port to airport. I like the location since we're going to the Miami Heat game the night we're there plus the ease and convenience of Disney doing everything for us made it an easy decision.

Thank you for posting that! We normally sail out of PC and I had no idea you could book certain hotels through Disney. We really like the Hampton, but I'm going to have to check into that!

What was the price of the hotel thru DCL? Where it transfer more since you added an extra transfer?

The "Disney" hotels in Miami are really expensive. I've just gotten "comfortable" paying $160 - $190 before tax for a room - can't bring myself to pay DCL hotel prices at this time.

I have stayed at the Hyatt House - Miami Airport. Used the hotel shuttle from and to the airport. We used DCL transfers from MIA to the port. Gets us into our DCL frame of mind that much sooner. Mid week (Monday - Thursday) they have a complementary "evening reception" with enough food and beer/wine/soda/tea/milk that it made for an OK evening meal after flying cross country from the NW. It also has a complementary daily hot breakfast, which was pretty good.

Next trip we are staying a few nights before the cruise so I book room at the Beachcomber Resort and Villas in Pompano Beach (a little north of the Fort Lauderdale airport). I'm renting a car (duh) and on our sail date I am driving to Miami airport and using DCL transfers again.

We're staying somewhere near the Dolphin Mall - a marriott property - Courtyard, maybe?

Anyway - it was free to us with points, so that works!

We're still working out transportation issues.

We just stayed at the Courtyard Miami Downtown before the Wonder Cruise. You can catch a cab to the port (about 5 minutes) or I believe there is a shuttle that picks up there for $5 a person.

We love the Intercontinential Miami... it is literally across the water from the port. Also there is a nice park beside the hotel and several nice dining choices with in walking distance. Our daughter loved the windows. They had a deep window seal of abourt 20 inchers. She loved sitting in them.

Comfort Suites Miami Airport North. Free hot breakfast, wireless, and shuttle to/from both the airport and the port, plus a pool.

I believe it was $258 plus the transfers were $40 each and include airport-hotel-port-airport

There is a cutoff though to make reservations through DCL - Not sure but I think you have to make the reservations 30 or 60 days out for some reason.
