Hi all, thanks - your replies are really helpful. Just to clarify - we bought DVC points via dvcrequest for VWL, and we have not yet paid for park tickets. We are not AP. Also, we're going to Epcot that first day (not MK), as we are meeting friends at WDW and they already made ADR's for us there that evening. ADR's are under their name, however, not ours.

After reading everyone's responses and considering our circumstances, looks like going to VWL first makes sense. At minimum we'll check in/off-load luggage. We'll lose time in the parks, but sounds like a big ruckus for us to go to Epcot first, so we'll just deal with it. Thanks again everyone!

Or you could decide that $15 is a small price to pay for extra time in the park, and go straight to Epcot.

Ha - so very true, actually - what's that old cliche saying - "time is money", is it not?

I know your first day is Epcot but on MK use the bus in morning and boat at night. Bus is so quick to MK, less than 5 mins. Last time we took boat in morning we had to wait for the 4th boat before we could board.

Don't mean to piggy back on this.. We are in the same situation. Cheking in at Contemporary and doing Epcot that day. How mch time do you all think would be saved between paying the parking and going straight to Epcot or checking in at Contemporay and taking monorail to Epcot??

We went to a park once before checking in a couple years ago. We had to pay the fee, in cash, at the time, but we kept the receipt and the fee was reimbursed to us, in cash, when we checked in later that evening at Pop Century.

We've always gone to the hotel first & let them know we were too early to check in but wanted to be able to bus from there to the parks to make it easier later in the day when our room would be ready. It's never been a problem.

We have done this plenty of times and have never had a problem. We always show the gate attendant at each park our printout of our room reservation and our DVC member card and we have always been waved through. I've never even given it a second thought that they wouldn't. We come straight from the airport to the park early am- stay all morning and then leave to go check in around 4pm (which counts as our afternoon break). We know our room will be ready by then and DH and DD swim while I unpack, then we head back to an evening park.

I would just get there earlier so I can check in first.

(added later) You're staying at Wilderness Lodge? You have to go through the toll plaza anyway. Let the attendant know you are going to WL, then just drive on. For WL I think it is bear right at the big fork after te toll plaza and then take first right.
