Local food near Nassau Port

Hi! We've decided to lay low on Nassau day and just get off the ship and stay close - within walking distance. Does anyone know if there's someplace yummy that we could get some local food that we could walk to? Nothing huge. Local snack stuff is fine too! Thanks!

We've enjoyed Conch Fritters (guess what they serve!) a few times in different cruises. Short walk, on Marlborough. Mixed reviews on Tripadvisor, but for inexpensive local food and informal atmosphere we like it--much more so than Senoir Frogs or Hard Rock, both are just international chains.

A pleasant walk, watch for traffic. Nice for families. Not far from straw market and pirate museum.

Go to The Fish Fry. Great place the locals eat. About a mile from the ship, easy walk. Google Fish Fry and Arawak Cay.

My usual stop is a food truck right on the road fronting the water. While there's usually about 10-12 trucks, there is a woman usually around the middle - jerk chicken or shrimp that is fantastic. You can tell which one it is, she usually has a line of locals from the straw market lined up. Unfortunately, that also means she usually sells out pretty fast, but if you get lucky, it's great.

Another treat for me is a walk up to west Hill Street, and the Graycliff Hotel.

an old house/inn with a checkered past. The lobby bar is a cool, genteel spot for an icy cocktail and a snack off the lunch menu. Very British, very throwback to Colonial days, lovely gardens, etc.

Agreed on the Fish Fry place. They have great platters of cracked conch as well as fried fish. You can order plantains as a side, instead of fries. Also I highly recommend the local beer, Kalik--very refreshing.

Odd question but does Fish Fry have non-fish items? Hubby won't touch it

The Fish Fry is a group of several little restaurants and yes, they do have non fish items. I ordered hot wings, among other things.
