Question Currency exchange

we will be going on the Disney magic in June and were wondering if there is an exchange bureau where I might change dollars to euros or vice a versa on board the ship?

You can do currency exchange at Guest Services. The rate isn't real good, but you can do it.

Actually when we did it, the rates were pretty good (maybe not the absolute best) but there are no extra fees so it definitely put them in line with other exchange rates we saw.

I would get Euros before you leave rather than wait to get them onboard.

The good thing about doing the currency exchange on board is that if you have any foreign currency left over you can take that and your exchange receipt and exchange it back to your original currency.

Just ordered currency from Wells Fargo (free delivery) for our trip in June. We need Euro, as we will be in Spain a week prior to the cruise. When we board the ship, if we have left over Euro, we will use it to tip the staff. As we are on the 3 cruise in June, we would think crew would rather have Euro, than American money.

I have no idea why anyone would want to do this or order money in advance. If you want the best rates just use an ATM. They work just like the machines here. Tell your bank where you are going and just withdraw cash

Also never carry more cash then you can afford to lose. I can't imagine carrying around a trips worth of cash. Especially since the only time I have experienced a big theft/ loss was at my arrival airport

Our last DCL cruise in Europe was in 2010 to the Baltic and the exchange rate was better than the local rate especially because they do not charge a fee. Also as op stated DCL will buy back what is left over of what they sold to you except they do not take the coins back. FYI DCL will not let you charge to your room so you need to do the exchange in currency or personal check.

Or travelers checks

We are going to use the ship for exchange. We really don't spend much and don't want to carry a large amount with us at all times. Sometimes convenience is worth a little extra. Plus, we don't use an ATM at home and I would end up being confused trying to use one in a foreign country haha

If you use Traveler's Checks DCL or your hotel may well be your only option. Most places seem to have quit dealing with them.

As for "selling" back. You can do that at the exchange place at the airport, not sure why it's seen as DCL "perk" LOL!

I wouldn't advise trying to deal with travelers checks anywhere but the ship. DCL just replied with Cash, personal check or travelers checks to my question about their currency exchange.

Each time we have passed through an airport on our way home, we've been too rushed to exchange our money back into $$. I think the exchange on the ship is a great advantage.

The perk of exchanging on the ship is that you will get the same exchange rate as you bought the currency and they do not charge an exchange fee like most tourist bureaus or other currency exchange kiosks.

I believe the airport is the worst place to do any type of currency exchange.

Also, I don't like using ATM's at home so I'm not going to use one when I'm abroad. Although, we did have to use one in St Petersburg Russia. I'll order my currency before I leave home as I usually do.
