Actually, I think this is a good thing because my son loves the kids' club and we would be very upset if we booked and paid for a cruise just to find out that the he could not be in the kids' club. My husband and I also love the kids' club because it gives us a chance to have some time to ourselves on the cruise

This can be the case when trying to add someone at the last minute, especially on a cruise that is popular (like a Spring Break cruise).

Keep checking for as long as you can, because it will open up if someone drops out. But they will not book children once the clubs reach capacity for that age. It's not likely that all the kids will be in the club at the same time - but they take that into consideration and hardly ever have to turn any kids away from the clubs.

She is going to be 13 four days after the cruise!! Do thy ever make exceptions? She would rather be at Edge anyway I would suspect.

Another cruise newbie question, was I supposed to do something extra to sign my kids up? Or are they registered already since they are listed on the reservation?

The best you can do is call and ask! However, if the cruise is very full of kids, DCL will likely be a stickler on ages in the clubs and not allow exceptions, so they may not allow an exception to that age bracket at all.

Kids are automatically assigned to the appropriate club based on age. However, if they are 3-12 and will participating in the Club/Lab, you can pre-register them when you do online check-in, then get a wristband in the terminal or onboard. If you have an young one for the nursery, you can pre-book hours. Kids in the Edge or Vibe need no further registration as they are automatically allowed self-check-out priviledges.

I don't think they will make an exception in booking because she has a birthday after the cruise. She is 12 for the entire cruise and the computer will have her down as being 12.

If she wanted to use Edge, how do they know it will be full being you don't register for Edge or Vibe. I thought you only registered for Oceanear Club/Lab. Maybe I'm missing something....

DCL knows the ages of everyone onboard. They know how many kids are already booked onboard by age. They don't need to be registered for DCL to know this information, it's on the reservation.

That happened to me when I was looking for a last minute (60 days out) cruise. You can pull it up on the DCL website if you booked with no kids, but if you booked with children it didn't work. We called and they said that we can go with our 9 year old, but not my 6 year old. Odd because I would have thought they would be in the same grouping because that would be in the same camp. I don't know. Good luck! I hope it works out for you!

we did our check in for this cruise, we were able to pre-register one child for the club/lab but the option for the 11 yr old wasn't there, it wasn't a big deal to us we don't plan on him being there he wants the edge anyhow, just though it was odd we were not given the option

They don't actually plan on 6 & 9 yos doing the same activities. They allow any age to participate, but gear different activities towards each age group. The 6 yo would be expected to be in club activities and the 9 yo in lab activities, which are two seperate areas.

The online check in is basically where parents list who can pick up their child and set up a password that is required when checking them out. Kids 11 and up can check themselves in and out of clubs, so that step isn't necessary.
