Unhappy HELP! Kids club at capacity and want to add my neice to my cruise.

We are sailing on the Wonder March 21 and currently have connecting rooms (2 kids, 2 adults). We would like to bring my 12 year old niece with us as she is having a rough time right now, but just found out the kids clubs are at capacity. There is an extra bed in my room and my lifeboat section is not at capacity, just no space in the kids club.

Disney said I just need to keep checking... If I see anything available on the website, should I just grab the spot for a courtesy hold? Will that enable her to transfer to the room I have booked?

Any advice? I am devastated for my niece and could use some ideas!!

Thanks so much.

If you are within the 75 day time, chances are slim someone postponing the cruise. But someone could cancel last minute.

If you are outside the 75 PIF time, chances are someone will cancel or move the sailing. But if clubs are at capacity nothing you can do unless someone with one kid cancels.

If you see any type of cabin available for booking with a kid your niece's age, I would call DCL right away and add her to your room.

Interesting... so you could, theoretically, be on board with your children and not be able to let them go to OC/OL? Color me surprised (I'm naive, what can I say) but I thought only the nursery had that kind of issue.

Cruise is sold out.

Not sure where you find out that there is a empty seat on your life boat?

For most schools vacation starts a week later? Can't be that many children on the cruise?

I don't think that it would work to grab a courtesy hold as then the spot won't be available to you when you call - it will be on hold.

If you see a spot (thru dummy booking, which it sounds like you are checking), call immediately.

Our district has 'spring break' that week. Also, lots of colleges are on spring break that week as well. as a college professor, it's prime vacation time for me.

The reason OP cannot add her niece is because the kids club for her age is full. DCL has a maximum number of kids that the system will allow to be booked onboard for any given cruise. That is the maximum number of kids that can be in the specific club at the same time. If all the kids in the same club wanted to attend at the same time (not really likely) they would be able to.

Wow, great information to know. Since the OP's daughter is 12, would DCL allow her to attend the Teen club if there was room?

I would think that somehow they allow for the overlap ages in the total number(s) allowed. At 12 she could be in either Oceaneer's Club/Lab or Edge. Not Vibe (teen club). Maybe they count overlap aged kids as 1/2 a kid in each appropriate club?

The total number of kids able to be in each club (Oceaneer's Club/Lab; Edge; Vibe) has a maximum number.

I looked and on this cruise a 13 year old can be added but not a 12, so it is the OC/lab that is full. Even though most 11 and 12 year olds want to go to Edge, it looks like the rule is that the club/lab must have room in case they child wants to go there.

It's too bad.

So if the kids' club is full they will not allow us to book the cruise?

Actually there have been a couple times when the club was at capacity and people had to wait to sign their kids in until other kids were signed out. It doesn't happen often, but the club does not have space for every child to be in the club at the same time. They count on the fact that kids are going to be interested in different activities. For the most part, whatever formula they use to determine the numbers works. The times I have seen it not work was when the ship stayed in port late for the crew to have time off.

That is correct. If the maximum number of kids at the age you try to book is filled, then you won't be able to book a child that age in any room on that cruise.
