POR Boat Ride to DTD

MY parents just come back from POR and said they didn't think the boat was operating and at DTD it looked like they had part of the water drained.
Does anyone know what is going on or if it will be in operations soon? We are going first part of May and always enjoy the ride to DTD.

We just got back Saturday and we rode the boat a few times. It was working fine.

Hi I would suggest posting this question on the POR FAQ thread. Andre and Venomhatch are great at answering everything about POR. I would love to know too.

We are going in August and love the boat.

Thanks!

Oh good! My parents probably didn't know what to look for since they haven't stayed at POR before. They waited till they got back to tell me and I could have helped them. Oh well at least it is still going. The boat to DTD is a big plus for us! It is SO much more relaxing than the busses or driving!

Post over on POR board like OP said, but I am pretty sure I remember reading that they just moved or are going to move the boat drop off to where pleasure island was instead of the marketplace temporarily because of construction, but it WILL still run. So again, that is what I remember reading in a nutshell, but they will confirm over there on that board quickly if you ask.

I can't speak to whether or not it's running, but recently (within the last week?) they took down the former Cap'n Jack's restaurant. The boat used to let off adjacent to this building. So my guess is this area of the water is under construction, and they are utilizing the other boat launch only.

According to the POFQ thread (post #1148) the boat is going to the Pleasure Island dock instead of the Marketplace dock, and that this will be the case until fall.

Yesterday the boats weren't running because of the high winds (and looks like could be the same today). Real bummer, since we drove over from AoA just to ride the boat to DTD. That could've been the case when your folks tried also.

We are staying at POR in April. Two of the deciding factors in choosing POR over our mainstay CSR was A)Royal Guest Room and B) Boat Ride to DTD. Not having never ridden the boat to DTD before can someone tell me if the Marketplace dock being shut down that inconvenient?

That dock being shut down isn't that bad. It just means that it drops you off in the Middle of DTD. I guess in some ways it might be better depending on where you are going in DTD. I am just happy it is still running.

I also booked POR largely because of the boat service. Glad to see all is well. This is what I found on the Unofficial Guide to Port Orleans site:

Wed 19th Feb 2014: Downtown Disney Marketplace ferry dock closing 22 Feb 2014

The Downtown Disney Marketplace ferry dock (located next to the Rainforest Cafe) will be closed from 22 February 2014 until the fall for construction work related to the new Disney Springs project at Downtown Disney. In the meantime, the Port Orleans river ferry boats will still run as normal, but they will use the Pleasure Island dock in the centre of Downtown Disney instead.

The temporary new routes will be as follows:

Port Orleans River Cruise – Yellow Route
Service between Downtown Disney Pleasure Island and Disney’s Port Orleans Resorts
Disney Vacation Club Ferry – Blue Route
Service between Downtown Disney West Side and Disney’s Old Key West Resort, Disney’s Saratoga Resort & Spa and the Treehouse Villas
Internal Downtown Disney Water Taxi – Red Route
Service between Downtown Disney West Side and Pleasure Island only
