Thinking of lines, which would be shorter Cabanas or AquaDuck first?

Our first trip on the Dream is coming up. We have an 11-11:30 PAT. Would we be better off using the AquaDuck first thing for a couple of rides, or getting something to eat first? How long are the lines for the AD?

Not sure on the Dream, but on our November Fantasy we ate at Cabanas first, and the line on the AquaDuck was still virtually non-existent. It took longer to walk up the stairs each time than the actual wait. I say grab some lunch first, because you will need your strength for all the stair climbing!

Will be boarding the Fantasy for the second time on 3/9.

Since the AD ride is so short(but incredibly fun),it's my opinion that you should get a couple of duck rides in before heading out to eat. If the lines are short, you'll be able to ride a few times before lunch.
You'll be less stressed having lunch, knowing you've already had a few rides.
Depending on when you board, the decision might be made for you (really long AD lines,so you head to Cabanas anyway).
But if you can get to the AD before the line start forming,I say go for it!!!

I would absolutely ride the AquaDuck for awhile and then go eat!

We were on the Dream last April and this was the case. We had the earliest port arrival time. As soon as we got on board we went to Cabanas and had lunch. Our group of 10 were in there a good hour before we headed to the pool. There were still plenty of chairs and very little wait for the Aquaduck.

I know the kids don't mind the cold, so if they really love the Aquaduck we found there were basically no lines at night to ride it.

Aqua Duck or Food

Hi,

I am a first time cruiser going in November and I was thinking about letting my girls do the AD first then eating, but if I or DH want to do the AD, then we will all have to change before going to lunch, right?

That might be more problems than it's worth.

Thanks,
Dana

How long is long?

I keep reading that the aqua duck lines can get long, but can someone quantify that for me...like at its worst, are we talking 10 minutes? 20? 30?

You don't have to worry about changing to eat in Cabanas! Just put on a cover up, have DH put on a tshirt, you'll be fine to eat in Cabanas, it isn't formal at all!

I would definitely go to lunch first. With such an early PAT, you'll have plenty of time to ride the Duck. Why go to lunch wet? Or have to change and carry around wet clothes? We had an 11:30 PAT on our last cruise. We boarded around 11:25, had eaten lunch, and rode the Aquaduck multiple times by 12:20. There was still virtually no line and we were through while they still had people boarding.

Long Line

I sailed on the Dream last September, it was awesome. At times there may be a small line for the Aqua Duck, nothing unbearable. Some of the best times to avoid a line would be when you get back on the ship from port or at night. Aqua Duck stays open really late weather permitting. It was really cool to ride in the dark and have the outer tube lights lit up. You will really enjoy yourself. We were able to ride it several times while on board. It truly is a lot of fun. I would not get to concerned about the wait times. If a there is a small line it does seem to go fairly quickly. If you see a line you can also try back another time. You will love the Aqua Duck

I would eat lunch first. I personaly would not want to go to lunch wet and get the chairs all wet for the next people that come along. If I wanted to do the AD first, I WOULD change before going to lunch OR I would eat on deck.

I was on the Dream this past June and the lines did get quite long at other times during the cruise but they were not very bad the first day. We had an
11:30 PAT and was able to have lunch in EG, visit the kid's clubs, go to our room THEN ride the AD a couple of times before the muster drill and sail away party.
