POR VS. AS bussing
Most of the issues people have with POR seem to be transportation related. I have stayed at ASMu, ASMo, and POP. Is the bussing better at the values or POR? I am trying to get a frame of reference in case we have the opportunity to upgrade.
Thanks |

I have never stayed at any of the values yet. So I can't comment on buses there. But I do stay either at the Poly or POFQ. I have never really had any issues with the buses at POFQ. Now at the Poly, it always seems like buses are few and far between.

I am going to keep a watch on this thread as I am considering a switch from POR to ASMu.

We have stayed at ASM twice and had excellent bus service both times. We shared a bus with the other AllStar's maybe once or twice on our way to the parks over a period of 14 days. Sometimes on the way back from the parks each AllStar had dedicated bus service and sometimes it was shared, but buses were frequent.
I have not stayed at POR but I have stayed at POFQ. POFQ has one bus stop and most of the time we did not have to share with POR. When we did share, the bus picks up POFQ first then heads to Riverside and all of it's stops. Which felt like it took forever. One of the good things about POR to consider is that you may have a room far away from the main building, but you probably have a bus stop that is close by. ASM has just one bus stop by the lobby. If your room is located in the Country, Rock or Broadway Section of the resort, it can be quite a hike to get to and from the buses. I recommend a preferred room at ASM for this reason if you are relying on bus service your whole trip. |

I would never use bus transportation as a point of decision on selecting a resort. Any resort can have 'issues' with their buses on any given day. Or not. Buses are controlled by a central dispatch office, not the resorts.
We've never had a problem with the buses at POR or POFQ. And while I did have problems with the one value resort we stayed at, it wasn't because of the bus service. |

I think part of the reason for less buses at Poly is that the TTC is less than a five minute walk away. When we stayed at Poly, we would walk over there for a bus if we needed one rather than wait at the Poly bus stop. The reason for the complaints at POR is that it is a huge resort which has four bus stops for any bus heading to the parks and it can take over 10 minutes just to get out of the resort, especially if there are any wheelchair/scooter passengers to load/unload.

I would never use bus service as a deciding factor for a resort. Being able to walk to a theme park is one thing, but bus service can be very inconsistent and depends a good bit on luck.
We love that at Values you just have one bus stop (although at times resorts share) and you have lines to organize the wait to get on the bus. At the Mods you can have several bus stops and sometimes it can be a mad rush to hop on the bus when one pulls up. Even so, I wouldn't hesitate on staying at POR if that is a resort that appeals to you.

I've stayed at both POR and the All Stars multiple times. I wouldn't pick one or the other based on their transportation. They are about even. Except for the fact that POR has shaded bus stops and they have a boat to DTD. The bus service is pretty equal.

I've stayed at ASMusic, and Pop, as well as POR...some multiple times. The best bus service? Pop, hands down. Why? It makes no other stops once it leaves the resort...period. At the AllStars, you may have just one stop, or you may have 2 or 3...your bus may include all three of the resorts, or just yours.
At POR??? There are multiple bus stops throughout the resort. If the driver doesn't see anyone at a bus stop, the bus usually keeps going. But, if you board the bus at that first, main stop, you may have another 3 or so stops to go, before heading out to a park. So....if I had to rank them? 1. Pop 2. AllStars 3. POR BUT.....I would stay at any of them again. I found no reason for complaint with any of the buses at those resorts. |
