Would you sail on another Titanic?

An Australian billionaire shipping tycoon is supposedly building a Titanic II. It will be an exact replica of the first titanic. It will sail the same route, same menu every thing supposedly uber luxurious. Due to launch 2015.

Now personally Dh and I were the real live embodiment of "Murphys Law". On our honeymoon, we were hit by a hurricane, our trip to New Orleans was cancelled because we were due toleave 2 days before Katrina and in 2010 a trip we were schedule to take to London got waylaid by the Icelandic volcano erruption. The only thing we missed was the plague of locust. So I don't think I'm willing to dangle this diamond in the face of lady fate!

Would you cruise? (do not take into factor the price tag)

No! There is an old Russian saying (from Star Trek,) "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!"

Not only no but NO!!! I am a cruise fan and the recent cruise "issues" have not deterred me from cruising at all. We cruise Carnival and will continue to do so. Saying that I think there is something about the Titanic and all associated with her, from the original voyage to the commemerative one that was plagues by problems from the start. That is one trip I will have to pass on.

I love cruises but would not sail on that one. Would be too sad constantly reminding me of the ones who lost their lives on the original.

I am fascinated by the Titanic. I went to a Titanic museum exhibit last year and was just awestruck. I would definitely be interested in cruising on the new Titanic but not on the maiden voyage and not ever on a voyage that got within a hundred miles of ice bergs. No need to tempt fate too much.

No, but I don't have any desire to take that trip on any ship - antuiqeish or modern.

I'm not a superstitious person and I don't believe in curses. However, I have a hard time understanding why anyone would want to replicate a tragedy. How about a United Airlines plane called Flight 93 that flies over Shanksville, PA? I'm guessing most would be appalled by that one, but I don't really see a difference with a Titanic replica except that it isn't as fresh as 9-11.

Nope, not me. As pp said, I don't cruise either. I don't like the idea of all that water under me, and nowhere for me to escape from the island (ship) should something go wrong LOL. This was me BEFORE the problems with Carnival's ship.

Yea, I wouldn't be afraid to do it. I've never been on a cruise, but it seems like a cool way to start (assuming it didn't sink).

I see your point but I don't think you can compare the two. Yes, 9/11 is much fresher in everyone's consciousness but it was also a terrorist attack. The Titanic disaster, while tragic, was not.

Places like concentration camps in Europe, Pearl Harbor, battlefields, and some sites of murders (the Lizzie Borden House springs to mind) are now tourist attractions. Many people participate in war reenactments. Some battles saw the deaths of many more than 3,000 people. The Titanic is a part of history and some people really like history.
