I'm confused about immigration.... I though you had to go through immigration at your first port of call in the US. So if you fly indirect it would be immigration in the first US stop regardless of the country you have stopped in previously (as it's not in the US) so I though if we flew via Dublin or Paris we'd still do immigration at the first US stop??

I know I must be wrong *** Wayne knows his stuff but I'm confused as to why you can go into America without completing their immigration?

Generally you are correct, Immigration is done at 1st port of call in the US but the Irish have strong ties with the Americans so have immigration in Dublin.

2-3 of the DTD hotels are similar price to Fairfield but then possibly resort fees, parking, internet, breakfast all ontop.

i really hate the hotels with all the add on fees....
they're so misleading...you think you're getting a good rate and then you're really shocked....
and what exactly is a "resort fee"? You "HAVE to pay it....it's not optional...
it's such fraud to not include it in the regular price..

Never paid a resort fee yet, I won't book anywhere there is a chance of one being added.

I ended up booking 1 night free using AA Airmiles at the Clarion Inn lbv (with breakfast, I didn't expect) then 8 nights at Fairfield Inn LBV, cost me £43/nt with British Airways, at least I know everything is included there. Every other site wanted £70-90/nt so £43 is fair enough.

i've had to stay at those resort fee hotels when i've attended conferences.
It is beyond irritating!!!
i can't remember the name of the one we were at - one of the hotels in hotel plaza - right across from DTD and saratoga springs.
That one was so bad!!!
and we had a special conference rate. What a lie. It was $159 and then on top of that was a resort fee!!
what a rip off.

This past year the conference was at the hyatt grand cypress - i can't remember if there was a resort fee there or not.

It does, although when we stayed there it was prepaid as we booked through VH for our wedding.

as for hotels - i think we're going to go offsite - the onsite hotels have priced themselves out for me....(unless i can get an AP rate closer to the date of the trip)..
i'm not going to reserve anything yet, but i was checking prices out of curiousity..
looking at expedia....for our dates, i get the following:
Clarion Inn LBV - $66/night
Fairfield Inn & Suites LBV marriot village - $69/night
Best Western LBV - $71/night
Spring Hill Suites LBV marriot village - $74/night

anyone have an opinion on any of those?

Wouldn't mind staying there but out of my price bracket for a hotel in Orlando, cheapest I could find for 8th-15th April was £139/nt (less Quidco)

Values are not too bad for our August trip, under £60/nt incl tax. Considering it includes free parking at the parks they are OK but I am not a fan myself, would have to be Moderate at least for me.

Been looking at the Marriott summer deals but I always find cheaper thru agents nearer the time.

you found the values at £60/nt incl tax????
the cheapest i can find is £72 not including tax (and tax is probably another £15 or so at least).
and that's at the value that i like least (sport)..
pop century is £80 and art of animation is £82 - and both are before tax.

Not yet, I have almost used them a couple of times but something else always turns up. Been showing a while on the search engines, German company I believe.
