My Faith in Humanity is RESTORED.....

<edit>
....yesterday, when I was standing in line behind a woman. I noticed that a ten-dollar bill dropped by her foot. I tapped her and said, "I think you just dropped your money." She thanked me and said that she probably never even would have noticed...well, no problem - we moved up in line and she ordered [whatever]. A minute or so later, it was my turn (there are two registers) so I ordered a medium iced coffee. As I was retrieving my money from my pocketbook, I noticed an arm going across 'my' register....that woman in front of me had paid for my coffee!

Has anything like this ever happened to you? Please share your stories....

I have not, but I want to say that you did just as good a deed.

I love stories like this!

I held up traffic so somebody could turn left into a Starbucks ahead of me and we both ended up going through the drive-thru and when I got up to the window the guy handed me my coffee and told me the lady in the car ahead of me took care of my coffee. It was a yucky Monday morning too, so it was a nice thing to brighten my day a little bit!

Just wondering what her height and "bone structure" has to do with any of this.

I thought I was the only one. Maybe the OP thinks being "big boned" meant it would be harder for her to see that she had dropped her money?

Otherwise, lovely story.

I take it, this happened in Joisey, too!

I think she meant that she couldn't see around her to see the conversation she was having with the cashier, probably motioning that she was going to pay for the woman behind her. Or that she was the arm that reached way across the other register.

This was a lovely story, but I can feel some people are just going to get overly sensitive and turn it something to be offended about. How like the DIS.

If anyone should be offended, it's the crack about it happening in Joisey. But, I claim the right of neighboring state being able to rag on neighboring state. We do it back & forth all the time.

Actually Jersey has great malls to shop at. The people are nice there. But, Bergen County has this crazy Blue Law that they enforce so people can't shop on Sundays and the malls turn into a mad house on Saturdays. . .

. . . Oh, wait, there I go ragging on them again. . .

While at Disneyland one time, I was standing in line for ice cream at Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor when a lady with a British/Australian accent mentioned I had dropped a $10 bill on the floor. I thanked her, and when it came time for her to order, I just handed the bill to the cashier. If she hadn't told me I dropped it I would be out $10, so paying for her ice cream seemed like the thing to do.

I've never understood how this works. How can I pay for my coffee and at the say time pay for the person behind me when they haven't even ordered yet. Do I just leave $5.00 and hope it covers it? How do you know what the cost of the next order will be?

I took my kids to McDonald a while back for happy meals and to play in their play area. Their credit/debit machines were not working for whatever reason, and I had absolutely no cash on me only debit/credit cards.

A man probably in his 40's watched as I had to tell my kids that we had to leave because I didn't have any cash and came up to me and handed me $10 to cover the two happy meals that I planned on ordering. I refused at first but he insisted and said he does things like this randomly for people.

I haven't found the "right" moment to repay my good deed, but I will someday to an unsuspecting person.

Happened to me once at a drive through. I pulled up to pay and was told the person in front of me had taken care of it. It was no one I knew, and I've never seen the car again.

Not sensitive, but the OP mentioned that she was tall as if that made her weird. Yet if a tall person were to say something in a nasty tone about a shorter person there would be all kinds of hell to pay.

I've never figured that out either. What if you only leave a few dollars and a group of 5 come up?

Omg Bill! I thought I was the only one that never understood this!! I've heard people doing this for others, but I can't seem to wrap my head around it either, we can be confused together.

It best if you are in a drive thru. I've done this before at Starbucks. By the time you pull up to the window, the person in the car behind you has already placed their order, making it easy to pick up their drink.
