Tips for FAST weight loss?
Hi everyone .... you might remember my post a while back about losing 22 pounds by April 1 so I can go to Disney. Well, I'm halfway there with a little under 5 weeks to go. I am afraid that I won't make it at this rate.
Right now I'm just doing the old fashioned cutting calories and exercise. Usually eating around 1500 calories a day. I know I should probably cut the calories back some more. Does anyone have any tips to share on strategies to lose weight more quickly in a short period of time. (I know that for long term weight loss this isn't feasible, but I need a quick fix!!!) Thanks!

What are you eating and drinking? Have you been counting sat fat, sugar, sodium? If you are HIGH on the sodium you are going to retain fluid. So I would say count those 3 things to see if they are on the high side. Sleep. Are you getting proper sleep? You need sleep to lose weight. ETA...If you do not have a food scale, go get one! That really was the thing that made difference for me. I got the Biggest Loser food scale. Good Luck! |

Go water only.
If you drink soft drinks or any type of alcoholic drink you will be shocked how much weight you lose by going all water. No fast foods, no sweets. Also define "exercising". If by exercising you are simply walking or doing light jogging, then that is fantastic, but not really the way to see the most impactful strides in cutting pounds. I would suggest pushing yourself even further. A good rule of thumb is you should be breathing heavy and sore, but upon completing a workout should not be so exhausted you can't formulate complete sentences between breaths. Try cross training. If you are doing the same exercise over and over with essentially the same routine (say you are jogging 10 minutes and walking 20 minutes every day) then you are going to plateau and see diminishing returns. Mix it up and try different intervals, as well as completely different exercises on alternating days. |

Here are my tips - try them for a few days and see:
#1) stop counting calories #2) all water ...herbal tea is ok too....if you must use sweetener, please use splenda #3) no sugar. Sugar includes carbs that turn to sugar (bread, pasta, cereal, sweets, processed snacks - even those 100 calarie pack things that are not good for you) #4) no root veggies of any kind (potatoes, carrots, etc). this is not a forever change, just a quick weight loss change #5) no nuts or beans right now #6) eat lots of lean protein. fish, skinless chicken, lean beef, lean pork, eggs #7) eat lots of green veggies! spinach, celery, cucumbers, green peppers, brocoli, asparagus, mushrooms too -i know they are not green if you make a salad use a small amount of olive oil as your dressing - it is a good fat!#8) no dairy This will work & you can stick to anything for a couple of weeks. You will be surprised how the weight melts off.

#10) you can have low fat/no sugar protein shakes too. the one I love i the EAS Advatage Edge ready to drink shake - under $5 for a pack of 4 at walmart. You can have a couple of those a day - whenever you are hungry. They are not 'dairy'.

There is an interesting paleo thing going on... Google potato hack diet. You eat just potatoes with very very little fat. You get so satiated there is no way you can eat your recommended daily calories. I think you can eat some salad and veggies too. They have all kinds of science hypotheses about why this works. Also this is a darn cheap diet! Get a ten pound bag and bake or boil some up! It is pretty funny that the poor potato is coming back into the diet. The thing is we cannot eat it with fat. There is also a big thread for people on a JUDD diet who are testing this out.
Best of luck to you.

I agree with changing up your exercise routine. I have just returned to WW to take off 10-15 "holiday" pounds. SLOW results, even a week on program resulting in a gain UGH! I was using my regular comfortable exercise routine. Just bought FIRM Express. I'm not in love with it, but in just one week, I lost 4 lbs. I also tried some of their nutrition ideas, which are similar to the ones you got i.e. WATER ,WATER, WATER! no artificial sweeteners, less fruit.
Good luck - |

I think the most simple way is cut it down to 1200 calories a day and step up your exercise routine.

You may need to eat MORE for your body to burn off the extra fat and lose the pounds. Keep your exercise routine, but eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, clean meals and little to no refined sugar or carbs.
