What is the worst Disney World advice you ever received?

My in laws did not understand why we took our kids when they were 4 and almost 2. We told them it was because for them the magic was still there. It really is Mickey Mouse and Cinderella. They told us it was pointless. They were wrong, in hind sight I wish we took them earlier.

I heard that from family...and my boys' first trips were when they were 4. The other worst advice was to go back to the resort for naps every day.
That depends on your kid...my older son needed a nap. My younger one didn't. His first trip was DLR...after one day of shlepping all the way back to Hojos...only to have him want to go swim instead of napping...I realized that he really, really didn't need the nap...and I didn't need the hassle of getting two kids and a stroller back and forth!

Make your dining reservations months in advance. The loss of spontaneity was totally not worth it.

Dont stay on Disney property, its not worth it, use the shuttles available from the off property hotels or take a cab! Did it once, then we went on property and never looked back.

I get this advice every year from my mom- "You're not going to Disney World again!? You should find somewhere else to vacation- surely, you are bored with that amusement park by now..." Um, no- not bored yet! Don't think we ever will be, but thanks for the opinion, mom.

My brother-in-law said my 6-year-olds would hate Epcot. My kids could have spent all day in Innovations. We spent 3 days in Epcot on our first trip. My niece and nephews did not enjoy Epcot because it was the last park in a long trip on a cold and rainy day. I was on that trip with them and I know why they didn't like it: their father drove us all into the ground on the previous 3 days.

Your young kids will never remember the trip, you are wasting your money.

Park hoppers are not worth it.

Don't take your young children on: HM, POTC, Ellen's, ITTBAB, etc. it's too scary.

Deluxe resorts aren't worth the money.

Swan/Dolphin aren't "Disney" enough.

Get the dining plan.

Any statement about how great Disney dining is. (It used to be good, now just mediocre)

We heard that one, too. How can it not be magical enough when you can see Illuminations from your window?!?

Why are you going again when you still don't have kids?

Ummm... because it's awesome!

We were also told this - but after staying in AKL, we'll just save up for that and go a little less often vs. staying in a value resort again.

I wish that DH and I had gone before we had our 2. Now we will have to wait for a few more years to go alone!

^ Exactly !

The Swan/Dolphin are wonderful resorts in a prime location and feature between the two some of the very best restaurants on property.

Why anyone would dislike them is beyond me.

"It's just for kids"

DH and I enjoy our adult only trips! Especially the tours and DH gets to play golf.

"Don't bother going to Epcot, it is so boring"

Insane! Epcot is our favorite park
