Just wanted to say I'm still here, just busy. DD was drafted to play a mouse in Cinderella and we had one weeks notice from the date she was asked to curtain! I've been working like mad to get mouse ears done for all 4 girls, and they are soo cute!
DS12 starts bowling this week, DS16 starts track next week, DS11 is still playing Basketball 2 days a week. So so much driving to do. If anyone has any great low fat, low sauce, low calorie recipes for the crock pot it would be much appreciated!!

Body image issues may continue, despite losing weight. That might be something you need to really think about and possibly seek help for. I have RARELY met a person who has lost significant weight who hasn't experienced some sort of body dysmorphic syndrome, to one degree or another. I have to work hard to counteract that voice in my head nearly daily that is trying to tell me that I have NO BUSINESS walking around the gym in yoga pants and a workout jersey because I just look plain GROSS with my BIG BELLY sticking out! But honestly.... I KNOW, deep in my head, that I look just fine in my workout gear (as long as I'm not trying to go to the mall in it ) and my belly, while not perfect, is not really "big".... and that NO ONE is staring at me wondering why I am so fat!! And even if they were SO WHAT?????It is so hard to let go of that former fat girl mentality! I strive to see myself as STRONG and HEALTHY rather than just "slim". It seems to help and makes me want to look STRONGER. In fact, there was a woman at the Y last night.... probably at least 55 or 60 years old, wearing formfitting black "LiveStrong" workout gear, pumping iron and looking TOTALLY B.A. !! I was SO impressed. I want to be HER!! Strong is the new sexy, right?? Stick with the weight loss AND the exercise, as exercise can help with depression issues as well. ***************** Hello all! I had my leftover fried rice with tofu for breakfast and may I say it was YUMMY! I figured, why not?? It had protein (light organic tofu), healthy carbs (brown rice), and veggies (bok choy, red bell peppers, eggplant, celery, onion). It covered all of the bases, even if it wasn't originally intended for breakfast! And I have one breakfast point left over for a mid-morning fruit snack. Anyone else ever eat very "nontraditional" breakfast foods?? Sorry I didn't get to pop on last night. I was at the Y and their STUPID wifi was not working AGAIN! I am so disgusted with that facility. We regularly visit 3 different YMCAs. This is the biggest, newest, and fanciest.... and I like it the LEAST. It is very busy (especially since the new year started) and sometimes it is hard to get a machine. There is no dedicated spot for stretching after your workout, so I find I either skip it (I know I shouldn't) or I end up feeling really awkward and doing it where folks might want to walk, or I get asked to move while I'm doing it. So frustrating! And they don't enforce the rules on the track and it is really hard to run or walk fast when it is busy because folks don't stay in the appropriate lane or they walk like snails while they are talking on their phones, or they just plain STOP to chat!! ![]() Okay.... rant over! ![]() Yesterday was a GREAT day here! DD got a phone call from the swim coach at her top choice college (the one we visited last Sunday) and ..... BIG NEWS.... SHE GOT A We also got an email from her current club coach inviting her to be on a relay team for the YMCA New Englands meet coming up. There was a paperwork glitch between her old team and her new team and the qualifying time she needed to attend this event (which is one of her FAVORITES) didn't come through, so she assumed she out of luck. This is ON TOP OF being invited to participate in a relay this upcoming weekend (at Harvard)at AGE GROUPS (another event with fast qualifying times). She is really going to be ending her Senior year with a BANG! Life is good for DD right now! I PROMISED myself I would finish up my online training for my new job this week, so I need to dash for now! TTYL....................P

Sorry you have been struggling so much. Second of all... great job getting back on track for two days (and counting) and getting moving again. Third..... I have found, personally, that when I gain a big amount in a short time (like 5 pounds in 4 days at Disney ) that it also COMES OFF QUICKLY, once I get right back OP. So you may find that those 4 pounds are gone in a few weeks. Frustrating to be backpedaling, but not unforgiveable. Quote:
I'll double check for a few recipes, but as I recall you have a couple of really picky eaters. Wanna throw out some "absolutely not eating it" ingredient ideas, so I know where to work from??? Miss hearing from you more often, but I know you're busy. ETA: Here is one recipe from the BL recipe thread for a whole chicken. With your big group it would probably be good, as it would feed plenty of folks. http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2447512&page=3 (post #34) And on that same page, post #35 has a good hamburg soup recipe and Lisa has a crockpot pork recipe in post #37 that I haven't tried, but it sounds yummy. And here is page 5, post #75, with a link to one of my FAVORITE recipes that I got over on the Budget Board! http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2447512&page=5 CAUGHT UP!

Pamela, I also love your non-traditional breakfast! I know that in Asia people do eat rice for breakfast, so you could say you just had "Asian breakfast". I think I might have to consider looking for more non-traditional breakfasts myself, I still struggle with good breakfasts as so many traditional breakfast foods seem to have so many calories. And congratulations to your DD for all her swimming success. I am happy that the year ends on a much better note than how it started!! |

![]() Anyways, for the last two days I've actually been eating oatmeal! I know this doesn't sound like a big deal, but I've always hated the texture of it and just couldn't bring myself to eat it. Since I didn't know what I was doing, my first attempt turned it into some watery, soupy-like substance. A fellow Disney Dork took pity on me and gave me some of hers and it was pretty yummy! So I'm going to attempt to cook some steel cut oats this weekend (read they are the best quality) and throw in a cinnamon stick. I've never done this before so any advice will be appreciated! I did find I like it more on the thicker side...

I was bad yesterday. I was all ready to go to my Nia class, and I decided at the last minute not to go. I was still under on points/calories for the day, so it wasn't too bad.
Unfortunately, I'm going out to lunch with co-workers today and need to make up for that tonight big time. Silly social situations, getting me into trouble. I'd order a salad, but I am very picky about what I eat. Oops.

Hey all, wanted to share.
I checked this book out of the library and I think it has some great recipes. It is geared towards gluten free, but the recipes are very mainstream. I think I am actually going to purchase it. 500 Best Quinoa Recipes by Camilla Saulsbury Hope everyone is doing well.

Dinner for breakfast sounds pretty good! We had a breakfast-for-dinner of sorts last night! I've been craving ooey gooey spinach and artichoke dip lately, but have been fighting to be good. Last night I made what turned out to be enough to get rid of the cravings. I'm not going to pretend it will replace my favorite dip but it did work enough to get me through! Here's what I did:
Chopped fresh spinach, onion, canned artichoke hearts (in water) and some minced garlic. Sauteed them in some Pam and a tiny amount of olive oil. Then added some Egg Beaters and made a frittata! I sprinkled some grated Parmesan on when I flipped it (in quarters - I can't quite flip an omelet/frittata in one piece and wouldn't dare try)! All the flavors were there (though none of the crunchy chips and gooey cheesiness. Anyone else have any "when I'm craving X, I can usually just have Y" ideas? When I was hankering for buffalo wings over the Superbowl, I mixed up some Hidden Valley Ranch & lowfat sour cream with a few dashes of Frank's Red Hot Sauce and dipped celery and carrots. It tasted like the celery served w/the wings that have the leftover buffalo sauce on them, dunked in ranch. Worked for the craving, though I'd still LOVE some real wings now

My if I am craving X I can have Y food is fries. Chop up raw potatoes into sticks, coat them lightly with oil (I usually put them into a large mixing bowl and add 1 teaspoon oil for a one person portion), salt them and bake them in the oven. You can dip them in ketchup just like fries. The potatoes still have some calories, so it isn't calorie free. But obviously much better than fries. |

However, I decided that certain social events are just too important to me to sacrifice them for a faster weight loss. My lunches are important to me and being happy is important for weight loss, too. Also I know that once I am starting to maintain I will not want to stay away from social moments for the rest of my life. So I need to learn how to deal with them in a responsible manner anyway. It isn't the one meal a month when I can't resist the four cheese pizza that made me fat. It is ordering things like that on a regular basis and then eat everything on my plate instead of stopping when I am not hungry anymore. So, I hope you had a great lunch and will just be back OP afterwards!!
