Time off ship in Grand Cayman - anyone know?
Does anyone know the earliest time that I could reasonably be off the tenders the morning we get to Grand Cayman? Itinerary says we will be there from 7:30-3:30. We are concierge so I think we get to tender first, correct? I am setting up a private charter and need to know what time to tell the driver to meet us at the port. I am thinking 8:30 but I would like to know from someone who has been there recently if this is possible. Also, 7:30-3:30 is island time/EST, right?

Thank you for that information. It sounds like we should have no problem meeting our driver at 8:30.
So the day you were in GC, was ship time the same as island time? We are leaving from Galveston which is Central time, and I know that GC is on Eastern time. I am pretty sure that the night before, we will get a notice to move our clocks ahead one hour but I would like to verify. I don't want to be an hour late for our excursion! |

We just finished our 6 day WC cruise from Galveston, Jan 26-Feb 1 . You do get notices the night before to change your clock for Grand Cayman so that you start the day on Grand Cayman time (not Galveston time).
When we woke up we were already anchored outside of Grand Cayman. it's a tender port so you have to take into account 45-60 min extra, especially if you are booking a private excursion. The tender boats are large (double decker) so it takes a while to scan everyone's card and get on the boat. Sit closest to where you enter the tender boat as that will also be the same place you exit. |
