Unhappy So what happens if an entire party doesn't show up?

I'll just say that something has come up and our entire party of 6 with 2 rooms will not be showing up at the port terminal on the 28th.

Will anything happen or change? Will the cruise line even try contacting us? Not like I'm expecting a full refund or anything considering we already tried that.

Also worth mentioning we are Category VGT.

Really sorry this has happened!! How horrible! I don't think anything happens. Guessing you already contacted DCL and don't have travel insurance? I hope everything will be okay for your group.

I was thinking today how much I wish I would have gotten travel insurance. Already contacted them when we thought only one person was not going to be attending and they said "Well, there will be more space in the room." I figure the most they will do is remind us after 11:30AM (our check in time) that the ship is leaving with or without us .

You should get the tips and the port taxes refunded. Other than that...

If you can't get much money back, Iwould give it to a family with kids that are less fortunate (eg. sick, poor)!

VGT rates don't allow for name changes so it can't be given to someone else.

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I wish there was something that could be done. I hope everyone is okay (physically) as I know mentally I'd be a wreck.

VGT rates are very restricted and no changes can be made. Even if it were a regular booking, you can't just turn it over to someone else.

If you are sure you are not going, I would call DCL and cancel. But if you do nothing, don't expect them to do anything. They will hold your reservation open and when check-in closes at about 3:30pm, they will close your reservation as a no show. It will be processed and you will probably be refunded port fees, although DCL is under no obligation to return any of the money to you (that was the rules of the fare you booked.)

Is that today the 28th, or March 28th? Just curious if there is any hope your situation will change if it is a month away

Oh no! How terrible for you and your family.

Considering you had verandahs, DCL could potentially offer upgrades to those with inside or port hole rooms. Otherwise, your rooms will probably just go empty for the cruise. Sad.

Out of courtesy, I would call DCL and let them know. That way they won't be wondering, or waiting for last minute passengers. Very sorry this has happened to you.

Technically, if you miss the ship at the initial boarding, you do have the right to join the cruise in the next port. Therefore, if you do nothing, they will not give your stateroom away as it is still yours and you still have rights to it.

If you know you are not going to be able to make the cruise at all, call DCL, let them know, and it can't hurt to plead your case (whatever it may be) to anyone who may listen. MAYBE you could convince someone to give you a credit for a future cruise (although I would not count on it).

Hope everyone is okay,
Dreams

Unless, of course, the second port is a US port.

If you are going to lose out on the money anyway, I'd call, ask for any money back you can get(port fees, etc) and request to have the rooms released so someone on board can get some pixie dust with an upgrade, or at least make the rooms available for those who want to upgrade at port.
I'm sorry and I hope your family/friends are all healthy.
